So thankful I got to attend #PSAISOPISEP2024! Presented my research and was one of the Bold Award winners! Met a lot of awesome algae people and got to spend time with these goobers
Miguel studied how nutrients and temperature interact to affect #kelp on an enzymatic level. He scuba dove to collect kelp samples, managed 8 different experimental conditions, handled 100+ cuvettes, and learned how to use an elemental combustion analyzer! PC: Jason Goode
I had a wonderful summer of research @USCWrigley with the help of Zinsmeyer REU Declan Bulwa and Wrigley REU Miguel Sanchez! In addition to helping me with my own research, they conducted their own, original experiments on #Vibrio and #kelp. PC: Jason Goode
Declan investigated #Vibrio ecology and taxonomy in relation to eelgrass and kelp habitats. He free dove to collect 50+ water samples from around Catalina, inoculated 100+ petri dishes, isolated and DNA extracted 70+ colonies, and sent in 50 samples in for sequencing!
Times flies when you're having fun 😎 This is 2023 Wrigley Fellow @InessaChandra's third summer at #WrigleyMSC, and she's doing research on kelp senescence to build more understanding of how we can support new kelp growth. #FellowsFriday https://t.co/XaicqeIvgv
Just a typical summer day for Zinsmeyer Fellow Declan Bulwa, who is conducting his research on Vibrio abundance in the waters surrounding #WrigleyMSC.
They also visited the #intertidal and observed different organismal behaviors. On the way back home, we briefly traveled with a bison! PC: Jake Davis, Inessa Chandra
Super impressed with my ENST483 students this @USCWrigley Maymester! They've been learning the different aspects behind ecosystem function and our capacity for #Sustainability. It's only the 2nd week, but they've been busy! PC: Jake Davis
In another, they took water samples from different habitats (rocky reef, eelgrass, kelp) to see if they reduce the presence of potentially pathogenic #Vibrio. PC: Inessa Chandra, Jason Goode
