Silver Class released their class butterflies last week. We were captivated watching them develop from small caterpillars and then turn into chrysalis's. We fed them satsuma and apple and gave them sugary water to drink. It was an excellent way to learn about lifecycles.

Our Year 2 children went to Ash Museum as part of our History topic - Ash in the past. We saw artefacts that helped us learn more about the history of our lovely village. The children were complimented on their interest and behaviour. Many thanks to the museum volunteers.

We had the best day at the Basingstoke Canal Centre for our Summer school trip. Silver class enjoyed taking a trip on, 'Rose bud' the canal boat, hunting for minibeasts with nets and pond dipping. We were lucky enough to find some Newts and a leech!

Silver Class had their 1st tennis lesson this afternoon. We learnt ball skills and how to hold the tennis racket properly. Everyone listened and took part 👍 perhaps the next Andy Murray is in our class 🎾🎾🎾🎾

Its Dinosaur week in Silver class ���check out our dinosaur drawings 😌we have also been using candles to create wax resist pictures. We cannot see what we have drawn until we paint over it with water colour paints 🧙‍♂️

Last Friday was our Coronation day and Year 2 were busy learning about the special day. We decorated crowns, made fingerprint bunting, painted portraits and designed coats of arms. We all had a wonderful day!

Silver class enjoyed celebrating the Royal Coronation. We made crowns, wore royal colours and had a lovely picnic lunch. Lots of children drew and wrote cards and letters to the new King 🫅

We have all enjoyed learning about some historical facts about the Coronation and past Kings and Queens. We will share our whole school art project once finished!

Enjoying our indoor street party to celebrate the King's Coronation. We all sang the National Anthem before eating in our new crowns (Thank you PTA).

Summer Term PE lessons are now outside. Silver Class are learning bean bag skills. We have been travelling with a bean bag, throwing and catching a bean bag and taking aim with a bean bag. Our fingers are crossed for sun next PE lesson ☺️

Silver class enjoyed a wonderful meet and greet of the animals from Millers Farn. We were able to touch, stroke and learn about pigs, goats, sheep and a donkey. It was very interesting and the children asked so many sensible questions. 🐷🐮🐣

Silver Class are loving learning about Space and the Solar System. We have been smashing moon rocks and working as a team to complete a giant puzzle. Our art focus is the French Artist; Henri Matisse and we have been using collage to create our own bright planets 🌕🌚🌏

For our 100th day of Reception celebration, the children brought in bags of 100 objects that had been carefully counted at home. There were 100 pennies, 100 mints, 100 fennel seeds and even 100 pieces of Lego! We also made Happy 100 day cards and crowns.

On Wednesday last week, Silver Class braved the elements and had 10 minutes outside in the snow! Wellies and hats were put on and the class had fun exploring the snow. Some even attempted to make a snowman ⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️

Tomorrow the Reception Children CELEBRATE being at school for 100 days! The children will be drawing a self portrait of them at 100, making 100 day hats and counting out 100 objects. We may also get them to attempt 100 exercises. Watch this space!

Just before the February Half Term; Reception were visited by the School Nurse who taught us about how to keep our teeth healthy and clean. This ended our topic on People Who Help Us.
