Fully support this. Smoking has multiple harmful infection associations too - poorer outcomes from sepsis, increased surgical site infection, peripheral vascular disease assoc infections as well as the massive increase in incidence and severity of respiratory tract infection

Smoking causes multiple harms including stillbirths, lung disease, heart disease, stroke and dementia. A quarter of cancer deaths are caused by smoking.

Most smokers regret starting.

This will prevent ill health, disability and death.

Excellent work from @mikepetrie4, reviewing the outcomes of intended 2- stage exchange for PJI in Sheffield with less than a week of systemic antibiotics in the majority of cases.

Aggressive surgical debridement & high-dose, targeted antibiotic cement beads at time of first-stage surgery, without use of prolonged systemic antibiotics, has a high rate of success.
