So, we’re not here to judge or excuse. We can say that someone who is truly repentant understands the ruin their sins have caused, and would desire to correct them. In someone who was truly “born again,” you’d see that kind of behavior.

"I want to be remembered by courage for my faith."
I wanted to talk about @charliekirk11 and his faith, and address the debate of whether Charlie led a political or a religious movement. Because seeing this as an either/or question misses the point entirely.
Republicans know that we do the Invocation first, then recite the Pledge, because it's God first, then Country. I may be mainly speaking politics recently on X, because his assassination requires swift political answers. But do not mistake this for putting my own faith in the back burner.
Charlie was absolutely correct. Faith needs to come first. People who are engaged in politics, but have no faith, are cowards. I learned this through experience. They have no moral compass telling them to be brave in moments of travail. Instead they make craven justifications for not acting, thinking it's "compromise." And keep losing.
But we're going past that. I want to talk about faith. Especially as a Jew, who sees Charlie's movement as a largely Christian based.
My priority is you have faith. I don't care what your faith is, so long as you at least have it. I don't care if your faith is religious, or joining your local YMCA workout class.
I've seen how faith turns people's lives around. People who join the local AA chapter, their local yoga studio. In my situation, in the 2000s, I went back into running and joined a marathon club. I saw people who'd been through divorces, alcohol/drug issues, horrible accidents, career ends. Their faith and zeal, in the silliest thing, turns them around.
Even during the Holocaust, it was said that survival did not belong to the strongest or the fittest, but someone who had a purpose. Even "I owe so-and-so some money,I gotta pay them back."
I myself wound up writing @Inferno_LA to find my own way out of that Dark Wood. It was a five year project I published in 2013. Ironically enough, as soon as I finished, my old college sweetheart found her way back to my life. We dated, she helped me sell the book, we got married in 2016, and we are raising two beautiful children.
In that time, I also found my way back to my own Jewish faith, and have been regularly attending Shabbat services ever since.
Shuva (return) is as much a Jewish principle as it is Christian, and it's something I preach to this day. Coming back to righteousness is a long learning curve, but is full of forgiveness. Every day is a new challenge.
My wife and children were the first thing I thought of when I saw Charlie get shot. Before the rage hit. Our lives are so tentative. Every day I spend with them is a blessing. I called my old colleague @RCMaxw3ll on Friday to discuss our families. I told him to hug them.
I also told him I understand Charlie's mission for what it was - the courage to go into the Lion's Den and preach the truth, which was neither political or religious. I said that while I didn't have the same opinions as Charlie, I wouldn't have the even temper to do what he did.
That's when he reminded me that I have my own foxhole to man. I have my PAC @protectculver in deep blue Culver City that I run. We get hit pieces and incitement against us all the time, from those who have no defense for what they do.
But I go on anyway. When so many people are telling me to leave. Because I have courage, and faith that tells me I need to be here. "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (Jeremiah 29:7)
In about three weeks we Jews will also come to Yom Kippur., where we will read the book of Jonah. Where he tries to avoid the command of the LORD to warn Nineveh of impending doom if they do not repent. "Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it." (Jonah 3:3)
I think about this a lot, and realize LA is not much bigger than Nineveh, and more so, we have the internet and telecommunications. So it's not hopeless, not if you have faith.
And that's my point to you, and my chiming in with Charlie. Get your faith together first. Don't live for politics, there's no faith or vision here. Get your faith together, and your vision and path in politics will be laid out for you.

REPORT: Church attendance among Gen Z has quadrupled in the UK, reversing the trend of declining Christian affiliation.

Gen Zers, many of whom didn’t even grow up in the church, say Christianity is providing them with answers they can’t find anywhere else.

“In 2018, just 4% of 18–24-year-olds said that they attended church at least monthly. Today, says The Quiet Revival, this has risen to 16% with young men increasing from 4% to 21%, and young women from 3 to 12%,” Bible Society reported.

“On some metrics, this data says that young people are actually more likely to be weekly religious attendees than millennials are,” said former pastor Ryan Burge to Vox.

“This is huge, we’ve never seen that before. We always assumed religion’s going to continue to decline, and it doesn’t look like that decline is continuing.”

According to the New York Times, the Catholic Church has baptized over 17,000 people in France, the highest yearly number in over 20 years.
