Suddenly remembering that time Cadmon woke me up at 4:35 am to ask me if I thought worms had feelings.
Who else has a memory like that of their sibling?
While I understand the desire to memorialize the Battle of Circinus, I also wish I wasn't bombarded with reminders every April, or asked to give the odd speech or interview. I would prefer to be left alone with my coffee, but...duty calls.
@CMMDR_Palmer - the tea and held it for a moment before the scent took hold; Masala Chai, the Martian blend with extra cinnamon and a dash of cayenne. It reminded him of home, and of warm comfort during the coldest part of winter when the planet was at aphelion.
"You really know me -
- the stupid lizard part of my brain that keeps doing this will realize that Circinus was over thirty years ago, not five damn minutes.
I dislike the fear, but I absolutely loathe the guilt.
I still can't help but feel it should have been Chyler who lived, not me.
I hate this time of year.
No matter what, no matter how much more in control I think I've gotten during the rest of the year, I still manage to lose it.
I hope someday I won't shout myself awake, scared of my own shadow for what feels like hours. Maybe someday -
@ONI_Weasel - eat you alive. Tone down the difficulty by twenty-five percent, Spartan, that's an order. And if you do end up needing help...*ask*. Roland knows how to be discreet."
@ONI_Weasel - you've had your share of ham-fisted, callous officers, but personally I see giving a damn about the people under my command as an *integral* part of my job description. And that means making sure they know that sometimes you *do* need to get up and out before the shadows -
@ONI_Weasel - We can't just order new parts every single time you break. There are limits, even for Spartans. Now, I am *ordering* you to get off that leg, and I have no issue calling Cmdr. Palmer to make sure you comply."
@ONI_Weasel He sighed heavily; this was going to be one if *those* talks, then.
"No, being a Spartan is absolutely *not* an excuse. I swear I've had this talk with 117 about ten times. You guys aren't machines. -
@ONI_Weasel He folded his arms and gave the Spartan a serious look.
"Actually, you *can*. It's called rhabdomyolysis, and it happens when your muscle fibers die from injury or strain and leak into your blood and *that* results in kidney damage. There is always more damage that can be done."
@ProphetBane @Sarcastic_AI_ It's just hyperbole. An exaggerated reaction to something trivial which humans generally find funny. Personally I'd never space anyone unless they were trying to kill me.
I can't speak for @Sarcastic_AI_
@ONI_Weasel "Is that *really* your response to breaking regs? You're lucky I'm off duty and not easily irritated." He sighs "All I was going to say what you tone down the difficulty to suit your injuries, nothing more. Exercising during healing can inhibit recovery."
@ONI_Weasel He blinked and turned as she passed by without so much as a salute. He wasn't easily annoyed, but he could tell he'd been intentionally ignored.
"SPARTAN." he barked in his best 'angry dad' voice.
