A developer conference spanning three continents.
Our goal; bring developers together. All of them.

Hrvoje Rancic has found a way to make software engineering a little less miserable, and he's so generous that he decided to share it with all of us.

Now, everyone say: "Thank you, Hrvojeeee!"

Your team can't fix problems they're afraid to talk about...

Nobody wants to be the person who points out that something's broken. But when staying quiet feels safer than speaking up, things can go sideways pretty quickly.

So, how do you make honesty the easier option for your engineering team?

So, what DOES it take to go from Software Engineer to Principal Engineer at @netflix? 👀

Well, we broke down Netflix’s engineering career ladder, from L3 to L7, using public job listings and reported salary data.

You're welcome. 😌

What if AI stopped learning only from us and started learning from itself? 👀

At Shift Zadar, @GoogleDeepMind Benoit Schillings shared why AI's next step could be all about learning from its own experience, rather than relying solely on human-generated data.

Sounds a little sci-fi. But the idea is already taking shape.

Read more about it and tell us what you think: https://t.co/jwMUGEo4NI

[Shift @InfobipShift]

@GoogleDeepMind’s VP of Research, Benoit Schillings, came to Zadar, heard the Sea Organ, got inspired, and built an app that simulates it. 🌊

Benoit recreated the Sea Organ in a browser using its actual geometry and physics, and you can even compare it to a recording of the real thing.

Some Shift attendees come for the talks.
Some come for the afterparty.
Some leave with a dog. 🐶

Meet Siena. In 2022, Ana from our team met her best friend thanks to our friends at Beštie. Four years later, they're still inseparable. 🥹💕

AI can make a half-baked idea look production-ready. And that just might be the problem... 😬

At Shift, @figma Designer Advocate @shallowveneer talked about how AI is changing the way teams prototype and why a polished prototype doesn't necessarily mean the hard decisions have been made: https://t.co/KZ1fEI78rT

[Shift @InfobipShift]

The more time an LLM spends reasoning, the more tokens, memory and compute it uses, and that can get expensive pretty quickly... 💸

At Shift this year, @nvidia's Igor Dmochowski talked about why we might be reaching a new limit for LLMs, where simply making models think for longer isn’t always the answer: https://t.co/dvhtAXFcLx

[Shift @InfobipShift]

Kubernetes is now officially boring. And honestly, that's a good thing. 😌

If you're running AI workloads on Kubernetes, though, things are still a little less… boring.

At Shift Zadar, @Apple Principal Engineer @k_gamanji took a closer look at why AI workloads still aren't being operated at the same scale and maturity as traditional cloud-native workloads: https://t.co/806W5Har0y

[Shift @InfobipShift]

At Shift this week, @OpenAI's @luisvelasco got into the part of AI coding that doesn’t get quite as much attention - everything you need to build around the AI itself.

Because getting an agent to write code is one thing. Getting it to understand the context, use the right tools, work reliably and actually fit into your workflow?

Yeaaaah, that's another story: https://t.co/hwngExHu1P

[Dario Djuric @dario_djuric]

Taste or the lack of it gets mentioned a lot these days, but only @TejasKumar_ gave a full conference talk about it at @InfobipShift. Great talk, I hope it gets turned to a blog post someday

[Dinko Eror @DinkoEror]

Long day finished in Zadar. People often ask me what matters in leadership. I have thought about it for a long time. My answer is still the same: EVERYTHING.👈

Leadership is not a single skill. It is the discipline of being good at many things at the same time. You lead people. You lead organizations. You lead relationships. You cannot do any of that well if you only understand strategy decks and org charts. The piece we forget most often is the work and the product itself.👍

What do your people actually build, ship, debug, and operate? What do your partners do with that work once it leaves your building? What do customers really do with your product and your service? What ecosystem do you live in?

How does customer feedback become the next product? In my case, that whole chain is technology & software. If I do not understand the product, the platform, and the ecosystem, I am not leading. I am commenting from the side.

That is why I spent a day with developers & technical leaders from our partners at Infobip Shift. To listen and learn. And to take a clear signal back to my teams.🤛

Infobip Shift 2026 runs across six topics — AI, infrastructure, security, system design, scaling, startups. More than 4,000 developers, 100+ speakers, 500+ companies. Red Hat’s relevance here is not branding. It is the operating layer underneath almost every serious version of the conversations above. Shift’s program is about AI agents, cloud-native platforms, enterprise production, security, and feedback loops. Red Hat’s 2026 portfolio is built for exactly that stack: one hybrid foundation for Linux, containers, virtualization, automation, and AI, so organizations do not rebuild the platform every time the model changes. Some learnings:

“From AI-assisted coding to agent-led execution. The question is no longer “can the model answer?” It is “can an agent complete a long-running software or business workflow reliably?” That is product, service, and operations in one sentence.”

“The year ahead, or an attempt to predict the near-term evolution of AI. Leaders who skip this conversation will approve budgets for last year’s architecture.”

“The State of Cloud Native: The Shift Towards AI. Kubernetes remains the foundation. The cloud-native stack now has to carry AI workloads at scale, with governance for an open-source AI ecosystem.”

„Trust and safety are foundational“

I was listening what partners and customers actually run. Not the reference architecture. The messy hybrid — VMs still there, Kubernetes already there, GPUs arriving, data that cannot leave the country, agents that want production access. If everybody is saying the work is moving from “ask the model” to “let the agent do the job,” then our products and services have to accept that feedback.

Leadership that goes in with developers, listens, and changes the product, sales and services is the job. That is why I am with partner developers and technical leaders these two days.

@nicodotdev's talk at @InfobipShift was probably the best talk of the day. Excited for the future of local AI, and for faster runtimes than ONNX!

[Shift @InfobipShift]

How does a senior engineer decide what to invest time into building?

"If it's an industry problem - buy it. If it's a you problem - build it", says @netflix's Michelle Brenner.

Architectural breakthroughs solve problems.... but also reveal new ones along the way.

Kicking off day 2 with @igor_dmochowski & @nvidia Nemotron case study going from early Transformer models to today's cutting edge infrastructure 🏃‍♂️

[Krešimir Končić @Kreshomir]

Hey all, I'll be speaking at @InfobipShift conference on Monday (Think Tank Panels, from 2 to 4 PM). I hear that a lot of talks will probably want to place AI everywhere; but I think the Shift crew will appreciate at least one person asking where to leave it out 🙃

[Hugo Raymond @shallowveneer]

Looking forward to speaking at @InfobipShift tomorrow in Zadar! I’ll be on the Foam Stage from 13:45-14:15 arguing how we really ought to be doing better than throwing AI prototypes over the wall…
