@PaulieStewart First time I saw The Pogues was at a bar in Fremantle. MacGowan made it through two songs, vomited on the people in the front and staggered off. Band kept playing. I was hooked!
@JasonIsbell One of the greatest songwriters ever. A small example:
You fill my sweetest dreams
You fill my sleep
You fill my heart with love
You make my life complete
When all is said and done
Darling I know you're the one
@annabelcrabb Generally speaking I love your work Annabel. Not going to watch anything with Dutton in it though. Well, maybe "Kitchen Defenestrations".
I bloody love @annabelcrabb and her not regular enough ABC Politics newsletter. This line in today's offering had my milkshake coming out both nostrils:
"It's been a hectic week, but the Coalition's standing among pro-nuclear Jewish pharmacists has never been higher."
@CrispinFresch @PreetBharara After the first two eps of Season 4, it feels like Barry's writers have backed themselves into a corner. If they don't get him out of jail in ep 3, I'm done.
@JasonIsbell Felt privileged to see both of these guys perform at Byron last night. Two excellent shows @frankturner
Still can't get past @SeagullsBand as my highlight of the first three days though. Kippis!
@ElvisCostello Rats. The silver lining ('cos it's all about me) is that now I don't have to miss Nathaniel Rateliff tomorrow night 🙃
Hope you all recover well.
Just catching up on the latest @Rockwiz ep. The Meg Washington / Ben Lee duet at the end has to be one of the all time greats (and that's saying something). @WASHINGTONx@benleemusic
@jabso@billybragg Raises an interesting point about what's the definition of a cover. I'd argue that those songs are to a very large extent Billy's creations. Anyway, Billy righted it tonight with "I Heard Smoke On The Water Through The Grapevine". Cracking show tonight.
@TracyWesterman There's also lots of research that suggests our negativity bias is adaptive, i.e. if we're a little bit cautious and reserved, we're less likely to stumble into danger.
