Earlier this month, while in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia—two countries with deeply troubling human rights records, including one that continues to detain a human rights activist whose family lives in Canada—Prime Minister Carney said Canadian foreign policy would no longer pursue the ineffective strategy of "lecturing countries from afar."
Is there a double standard in which this new approach does not apply when it comes to Israel?
A wave of Palestinian terror against Israelis in Judea and Samaria. A Palestinian terrorist shot Israelis at point-blank range, murdering two and seriously wounding two others. Yet Canada’s response is to condemn Israel.
This kind of message gives a green light to terrorism, just as recognizing a Palestinian state in the aftermath of October 7 does.
These are the people who will be deciding on whether Hackney should detwin from Haifa. Look at the keffiyehs they are wearing in the council chamber.
As a Labour councillor said: ‘This is a performative gesture which will only inflame local tensions.’
@TheoMoudakis Yes, because the cons are the ones causing the pain Canadians are feeling. Always the other guys. This insanity and polarization is getting exhausting for those who just want to live, work, support our families, & hopefully, at the end of the day, enjoy the fruits of our labour.

The “settler violence” libel is being used to demonise all 750,000 Jewish residents living in the disputed areas of Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem. This is being done to erase the Jews’ historic legal claim to these territories, push them out and replace them by Arab colonisers to create “facts on the ground” that make a Palestine state appear inescapable.
The “settler violence” libel is now a strategic threat to the world’s only Jewish state.
@ItsDeanBlundell@Shopify@tobi Hes just jealous. He wished he could start a company like @shopify or even a fraction of a % of it, but instead he harps on things that people say so he can get clicks and stay somewhat relevant (in his mind). It's a shame because he's smart and knows better but hes stuck.
@shaunking You should ask why before you assume you 'know' why. But of course you are going to assume you know, thereby justifying your argument and condemning all 'israelis' as evil. So no point in giving you justification because you clearly are the knowledge king and know everything.
And yet @vankayak seems to have no problem distinguishing men from women in other contexts
I discuss his hypocrisy at @Quillette
The only reason he’s a thing is that he won a gold medal, in a sport whose m-vs.-f benchmarks make a mockery of his position

We are asking why was an Al Jazeera @AJEnglish cameraman, Ahmed Shah, firing multiple rounds in Gaza last month? It’s a fair question, isn’t it?
Shah was a sniper in one of the elite military wings of Hamas. He was ALSO a “journalist” for the Qatari News Channel.
An Israeli airstrike eliminated the terrorist, but his death is added ONLY to the list of dead “journalists” in Gaza.
You see how corrupt and dishonest the entire system is.
Shah “operated” with his brother Muhammad in the Hamas rocket production unit.
His brother Muhammad was killed last April.
They are NOT babies or children. They are NOT civilians. They are NOT journalists.
They WERE praised by Hamas as “martyrs.”
You went to Syria and immediately mentioned “Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity & territorial integrity” because it involves Israel and we all know how you feel about them.
But then you went to Cyprus, a country that has been OCCUPIED by a Muslim country, Turkey since 1974 which nobody officially recognizes but you changed your tone and it was no longer about “sovereignty, independence, unity & territorial integrity” but about “communities in the search for a comprehensive & sustainable settlement.”
Who are you fooling, Antonio No Jews No News Guterres?
“Netanyahu flew over Eastern Canada for a third time; the Carney government won’t say if it let him do it.”
The government let Netanyahu do it. How do we know? Because he did it!

@erinotoole Thats really dumb for you to say. I would be happy to provide a lot of context and facts around the business case. Its there and irrefutable. The issue is that we can't build things economically or competitively.
This should be a global scandal.
Day by day, more and more "Gazan doctors" are turning out to be Hamas and Islamic Jihad combatants in disguise.
Just as Israel said all along, and nobody wanted to listen.
Hamas played you like suckers.
It should be a global outrage. We now have more than enough evidence to rebut the allegations of starvation, deliberately targeting health workers, journalists, children, and the rest. The world’s media has been far slower to publish the evidence against than the allegations themselves. Utterly shameful. See the evidence:

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps sleeper cells are reportedly activating, while Iranian regime-backed groups organize gun-for-hire plots targeting synagogues and the U.S. consulate.
The federal government must tell Canadians whether this latest shooting is connected to the IRGC, why 700 suspected IRGC operatives remain in Canada, and what it will do to arrest, deport, and dismantle these extremist networks immediately.
Remove these terrorists now to protect our people and bring safety back to Canadian streets: https://t.co/4Pl81BqEfx
