I don’t like the new subway car displays telling you which car/ side of the station you are closest to. Eliminates the knowledge gap between ball knowers and non-ball knowers

#OnThisDay 33 years ago the Waterloo & City Line's 1940 stock (Class 487) ran for the last time. The curious trains replaced the original 1898 fleet and were superseded by Class 482 (1992 Stock). Great footage from the final day by Fred Ivey, full video: https://t.co/i4RfikOE9K
Former Toronto mayor @iamdavidmiller was one of the most passionate advocates for public transit during his time in that office (2003-10). The TTC named a giant streetcar storage facility at the Leslie Barnes after him today to recognize that. #TOpoli
Proud to be in attendance at the renaming of the TTC Leslie Carhouse to the David R. Miller Carhouse. After 10 years, it is still at the heart of the TTC streetcar maintenance program done by TTC staff who keep Toronto Moving.
A smoother journey begins now. 🚄
Siemens Mobility has shipped its first trainset featuring an Auxiliary Power Coach—designed & built in Sacramento for @Amtrak.
Seamless transitions between electric & diesel power = a more reliable, uninterrupted journey.
Proud to see the TTC’s Leslie Barns Carhouse being officially named after former Mayor @iamdavidmiller tomorrow.
As TTC Chair, I was proud to help lead this project from concept through delivery. Leslie Barns was critical to the rollout of Toronto’s accessible low-floor streetcar fleet and remains one of the TTC’s most important modern transit facilities.
A few notable facts:
• 26,000 m² facility
• 30 streetcar service bays
• Maintains the TTC’s 264 accessible streetcars
• Dispatches 120+ streetcars daily
• Includes a major green roof to reduce stormwater runoff and improve environmental performance
A fitting tribute to a mayor who strongly championed public transit and city-building.
The MBTA has selected Stadler to build their new commuter trains for the Fairmount Line. They should be getting the exact same BEMU trains as Caltrain.
