Residents in Nzema in the Western Region have reported significant improvements in the state of the River Ankobra, following intensified efforts by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and local authorities to tackle illegal mining activities in the region.
The river, which had been severely polluted by illegal mining operations, is reportedly showing visible signs of recovery.

This morning, the lawyers for the 1st Accused Person moved a motion where they asked the Court to strike out the entire charge sheet.
REASON: They do not understand the crimes the 1st Accused Person is accused of committing and, as a result, are unable to defend him.
This motion prevented the trial from starting last week.
