@RutgersAltRoute A4. I have faced many challenges being understanding of the kids needing a growth mindset to be cultivated. I expect them to know answers and I forget that when they don’t I need to reassure them rather than get flustered. #teachered#growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3. I can always show an environment in the classroom of trying your best, I can frame my own messages instead of telling the student they got something wrong I can tell them to try again. I can scaffold more when a question might be too difficult #teachered#growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute When we ask questions and their responses may not be what we’re looking for, we can scaffold them and let them try again so they are aware they know the answer and can get to the correct response #teachered#growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute It can make some of them not want to work because they feel like they cannot achieve understanding of the topic, but it can also make them see some lessons as a challenge so they want to do better
@RutgersAltRoute They can have professional development days dedicated to how to cater to special education students, special education teachers can show other teachers how to better handle students when they find themselves in situations that are hard for them
@RutgersAltRoute You can show your students that they need to be able to say what they need from their educators so they know how to better assist the student and cater to their educational success
@RutgersAltRoute You can allow more time for the students to respond to questions, allow text to voice for those who need questions voiced out or repeated
@RutgersAltRoute I allow my ADHD students to use fidget toys while doing work so their energy is put into something that can help them be productive. I also do brain breaks throughout the class
@RutgersAltRoute I attempt to follow modifications on IEPs and 504s and I also try to allow a lot of group work so that students can help each other through the lesson
