@VesselOfViolent + "Ten bucks, huh?" The inhuman quizzed, giving his shoulders an absent squeeze with the arm slung across them. "I dunno. Sounds a little steep in this economy; I'd hate to bankrupt you or something."
@VesselOfViolent Daisy had absolutely noticed that seeming oversight, of course. That slip of the tongue he'd fallen in to, without even so much as thinking of it.
But she knew far better than to point it out. Having simply accepted the blessing with a very brief flash of a grin. +
@VesselOfViolent + sure about your odds?"
If she thought that he was as cool as all Hell, she at the very least seemed to know that it wasn't her place to say as much. A certain redhead having come to mind to subconsciously put her back in her place.
@VesselOfViolent She liked to believe that, at least in some small way, she was helping him. By being there, maybe. By being a friendly face, in the midst of whatever mess he'd found himself caught up in.
She liked to hope it, at the very least.
"I dunno. Casper's pretty cool, Robbie. You +
@VesselOfViolent + likely quite lovely, not that she'd ever notice. Not that she paid enough attention to herself to see it.
"If Coulson didn't want to have the place haunted, he wouldn't keep on bringing you around."
@VesselOfViolent It was an almost blink-and-you'll-miss-it sort of moment, when Daisy let out a breathless chuckle in response to those words. A sound which, by that point, was far too infrequent.
But there she was. Smiling despite herself, laughing even in the face of all that worry.
It was +
@VesselOfViolent + didn't shy away, at least. Even went so far as to drap her arm across his shoulders, to better allow him to slump against her side.
"Really? Because you always make it seem so fun that I was considering like, buying a Ouija board. Putting out an offer for a team up."
@VesselOfViolent Would it have been so terrible, in that stolen moment, tucked away in a too bright hallway, that she had missed him? That she was glad he was back, even if it was only temporary?
For the inhuman in question, the very idea of such things felt like teeth being pulled.
But she +
@VesselOfViolent + interpersonal relationships at as close to an arm's length as was possible; a stance which had been doubled down on thanks to a beautiful boy with lightning in his veins.
But damn it, Robbie and Gabe had gotten in there, anyways.
"That's not as convincing as it could be."
@VesselOfViolent This time around, at least, he wasn't left sitting in the floor alone. This time, Daisy Johnson was posted up right next to him, shoulder to shoulder. An elbow lightly knocking in to his own as the halfhearted reassurance left his lips.
She had always tried to keep +
@VesselOfViolent + something was going on, that Robbie was back topside in L.A., and in need of some help.
But Daisy let the argument go, for the time being. Opted for sighing out whatever frustration had remained, and helping to brace him as he slid back down the wall.
"You sure about that?"
@VesselOfViolent In complete fairness, both to her team and to the companion before her, having an inhuman with powers of such seismic proportions hanging around might have had the potential to do more harm than good.
Someone could have at least clued her in, though. Could have told her that +
@VesselOfViolent + But what good would that have done, anyways, when he clearly hadn't wanted to?
Her grasp fell away from his face then, though only to rest at his shoulder. She didn't want to push her luck, after all, with that aversion to touch.
"How can I help?"
@VesselOfViolent She could have helped.
She wanted to say as much, while they were standing there. Alone in the hallway, with the ghost and his fever. Wanted to point out that he could have called her, that he 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 have called her, to come and help him out.
Not S.H.I.E.L.D., just her. +
@VesselOfViolent + nuisance as physically possible?
"That's what he's calling it, huh?" Growing pains. She'd almost scoffed at the term, really. "And what the Hell's that supposed to mean?"
@VesselOfViolent At the mention of his uncle's name, some of that initial frustration, by no fault of Robbie's own, crept back in to Daisy's expression.
Of course it was something he was doing in there, causing such an adverse reaction. Why should he do anything but make himself as much of a +
@VesselOfViolent + have hoped, but she powered through it all the same.
But she didn't drop her hand. Instead, even as she shook her head, her thumb brushed softly back and forth.
"Nah. I didn't catch an invite to the party; guess I didn't feel like watching the highlight reel, either."
@VesselOfViolent There it was. Another lurch of that stubborn thing in her chest, this time in response to how gently he'd leaned in to her palm. How he'd just, surrendered any sense of control over the situation in a mere instant.
That rush of longing was a lot harder to hide than she might +
@VesselOfViolent + Disregarding that little bit of space which had been left between them, at first, in favor of pressing her palm gingerly against his forehead.
It was as if his skull was on fire on the inside, for once. A fact which left Daisy's lips rather tightly pursed together as her +
