Even there the competition from India and China is fierce in the remote working space. Highly qualified software engineers in Zim are making about $1200 mixed USD/zig. Maintenance requires regular inspection and repair. A civil servant who comes into the office to tick attendance and leave a jacket on the chair and disappear until 4pm daily for 3/4 of the month can't do that. That culture is now entrenched. It needs an economic chimurenga to reset.

I went to a large public hospital in a very western world and was surprised that a wide storage corridor now has patient beds. Kana mabhera ekuridza hapana unotosheedzera manurse achipfuura kana mu whudhu. Nowhere in the world is there enough beds for a population. Having said that no patient let alone a pregnant lady should be on the floor. We MUST do better.

Could have been an opportunity for students to do this for free and test out some fresh physics applications and learn and teach ?? Not sure if the City is reaching out to learning institutions or prisons for that matter as we see in other countries. When I hear contractor I think money out without social benefits. Let's not be quick to criticise unless we've walked a day in the mothers shoes. Priorities differ and no-one knows what else the mum is dealing with. It is upsetting but one can get round it by using reliable people to facilitate it. Been there, done that, got the scars to remind me.
