#REPORT: The Ontario Government Is Tightening Truck Driver Training After An Audit Found Schools Cut Corners, With A New Standardized Class A Curriculum And Tougher Licensing Rules.🇨🇦🚛

• New standardized Class A curriculum with more than 103 hours of training

• Extra topics under review: fatigue management, northern/rural/remote driving, human trafficking awareness, and mandatory air brakes

• New integrity manager, supervisor spot checks, and weekly reviews of training schools

• Work-eligibility documents now required for commercial drivers

• Drivers from countries and other jurisdictions that do not have a reciprocal licensing agreement with Ontario must complete a G2 road test, then a G road test at least 12 months later to become fully licensed

• Six-month wait before Class G or higher drivers can take a Class A road test, starting January 1, 2027

• Tougher penalties planned for distracted driving and trucks without working speed limiters

• More northern enforcement on Highway 11/17: extra officers, blitzes, two mobile inspection units, and year-round rest-area parking
