@tuuu28283 Kei trucks are also popular in the US, but rare and expensive compared to Japan. They'd be much more common here if they weren't so heavily regulated
Human tenancy to simplify relationships into in-group and out-group.
People are more likely to trust and treat well others from the same family, same community, same religion, same race, same nationality. In a world of scarcity, people compete to provide for and protect the in-group at the expense of the out-group.
Every pack animal on the planet does the same. That behavior is hard-coded instinct.
Sentient creatures can overcome that instinct and cooperate at a larger scale, but it's only advantageous to do so if everyone else agrees.
@Tyler2ONeil I understand that the apparent goal was to manufacture anti-white hatred, but is there a TLDR on who the beneficiaries of their strategy are? I don't see a practical political angle unless the effort was organized by an enemy of the United States
It comes down to perspective.
Beauty is subjective, but there are quantifiables which people try to maximize (EX: through makeup & exercise) to increase beauty and which are not unique to one sex or the other. Eyelash length, body fat percentage, bold symmetrical facial features, contrasting lip pigmentation, skin smoothness... General indicators of good health and fitness. Without makeup, men come out ahead in these areas on average.
Of course, evolution has guided men's selection biases to skew toward qualities which indicate a woman's ability to bear and raise children: broad hips, large breasts, strong thighs.
So, the idea of "men are more attractive" comes down to what qualities you choose to focus on. If you focus only on qualities which are generally considered attractive in both sexes, then Asmongold has a point.
@mask_bastard The two party system is inevitable as long as we use one-vote-per-voter.
Fear of "wasting a vote" keeps people focused on voting against the perceived adversary rather than on meaningful topics.
Real progress is contingent on fixing the voting system.
@Polymarket How does result verification for a bet like this work? Even if he was wearing a mask, it's unlikely that any official statement confirming that would be released.
@Rainmaker1973 The parallel makes sense. Paying to keep criminals fed and healthy only makes sense if the goal is to reeducate or rehabilitate them. For any other goal, more draconian punishments would be more appropriate.
Manufacturing hydrocarbons (artificially or through farming for biofuels) has been possible for many decades. The problems is that the process fundamentally requires more power than you get from burning the fuel, and that will never change.
Manufactured oil will allow us to continue using fossil-fuel dependent vehicles even after exhausting the world's reserves of natural fossil fuels, but it will not replace fossil fuels as an energy source.
Depends on a few conditions:
1. How are people selected to pull the lever? If it’s the same pool of 25 people, we can already say with some confidence that they will opt not to pull the lever, and can continue deferring the choice indefinitely.
2. Is there an end condition? EX: if the number on the track eventually exceeds the total population of Earth, gambling on another 9 deferrals is viable but risky (this is the most interesting scenario IMO, because there is no clear correct answer).
But if deferral is infinite and the lever-puller is selected at random, there’s no choice but to pull the lever.
$100m is always the right choice. Even if someone needs the $1m and prefers the lower risk $100m is still the better option. Find a billionaire and demonstrate that you have this magic choice. Take payment of $40m up front and agree to pay out the $100m if you win.
The average payout for the $100m&50% option is $50m, so anyone with hundreds of millions to invest would buy that chance of an instant turnaround for $40m any day of the week. That's an instant 20% profit in their eyes. Let them take the risk and turn this choice into a guaranteed $40m for yourself.
The only thing I think Asmon is wrong about here is his view on mainstream politics. He does represent mainstream politics whether he intends to or not. He doesn't make appearances on legacy news outlets, but appearing on legacy media is not a requirement in the age of streaming
@naiivememe Plumbers probably have at least a decade left - probably more. AI alone isn't enough. It needs a dexterous robotic body with the ability to communicate effectively face-to-face, and sensors capable of mapping complex situations like corroded screw heads and rusted pipes.
