Hi Twitter world! The @InlandFishRG is comprised of a group of multi-institutional and multidisciplinary research #Scientists , #technicians, #engineers and managers who share the common goal of undertaking research to conserve and restore #inlandfisheries.
Our @InlandFishRG member, Dr An V. Vu, attended the 7th International Otolith Symposium in Chile to share his interesting findings on fish migrations in Vietnam. Thanks to the @Gulbali_Inst, @CharlesSturtUni for supporting this great opportunity.
Our new paper found some larval golden perch drifted over 1615 km from their spawning grounds near Mungindi downstream to the Menindee Lakes. Protection of future connected flow events will be important for improving golden perch populations. Check out at: https://t.co/IZlXaOJWer
@InlandFishRG member and @CharlesSturtUni PhD student Joachim Bretzel shared some of his interesting findings on #fish screens at the First Fish Impingement and Entrainment Conference in Liverpool. Huge thanks to the @IFMFish for organizing this great event #fishimp2023
These murals at CSU Thurgoona were painted by Tracie MacVean to represent our unique alpine landscapes and some of the species that live in this ecosystem. Our team currently works to protect the critically endangered Stocky galaxias, Alpine spiny crayfish and Macquarie perch.
Nicki Duncan about to start PhD @CharlesSturtUni that will investigate if processes for fish barrier remediation prioritisation can better target human and environmental health to deliver on development goals. All the best to her study!
Today we hosted the DPI @nswdpi, Threatened Species Group to tour our facilities and show some of our threatened species' research with stocky galaxias, Macquarie perch and Murray crayfish. #Theatenedspecies#fisheriesresearch
"Evaluation of a new practical low-cost method for prioritising the remediation of fish passage barriers in resource-deficient settings". This paper provides a great tool to assess remediation of fish passage barriers.
