The gap between CAD-literate and shop-literate is wide, and most of the bridge is GD&T. Working through it. The kind of knowledge a CNC operator has and an outside designer doesn't is a real structural feature of small-batch manufacturing.

I've also been getting a kick out of engraving and how beautifully it can turn out, but I do find the path Fusion's CAM takes to be odd (points in the corners, then in the middle, then starts in the middle and works out) #reindustrialize #madeinamerica

For those worried about ISIC-002's lack of functionality, never fret - for the v2 design arrived and learned the lessons of the first (that function and dimensions should be priority 1, 2, and 3)

ISIC-002 was kind of a bitch to engrave on the CNC machine but this was mainly because I did a bit too much grinding, therefor messing up the heights, to get them more finished than I needed to beforehand #reindustrialize #madeinamerica

Wanted to learn some new skills and factor in multi-process fabrication for ISIC-002 and decided to go with a bottle opener with the ISIC logo engraved

Manufacturing needs 3.8 million workers this decade. About half will go unfilled.
The factories are getting built. The workforce to run them isn't there yet.
That's the actual bottleneck to reshoring and nobody wants to talk about it.
