We made a lot of progress in Victoria over the September track possession with the demolition of the Hamilton Street bridge in Broadford, Victoria.β
Removing 460 tonnes of bridge will make way for double-stacked trains to run from Melbourne to Brisbane.
You saw the bridge works in Broadford but what else has been happening across Victoria.
Heaps!
600 workers achieved some major milestones during a track possession last month in Wandong, Broadford, Hume Freeway-Tallarook and Benalla.
Taking shape. πͺποΈ
The first two beams have been installed at the Hamilton Street bridge in Broadford, Victoria.
Two 35.5 metre beams, each weighing 35 tonnes, were lifted into place by a 650-tonne crane. Alongside lowering the existing rail track, this new higher structure is vital in providing sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains. π

In March, we completed a 60-hour possession in Euroa, Victoria.
As part of this work, we upgraded the Birkett Street level crossing to support the traffic detour ahead of construction starting on Anderson Street Bridge.
The upgraded Seymour-Avenel Road bridge in Seymour has re-opened to traffic.
Built in the same location, the new bridge is higher to allow sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains and minimises environmental impacts.
