So very excited to have just signed the contract for my first monograph, “Shakespeare in European Cinema: Borders, Thresholds, Connections”, to be published with Palgrave’s Reproducing Shakespeare series🌍🎭📽️Final manuscript due by November 1st! 🎊 1/4
Just a few days to go until @nemnetwork_'s Fourth Annual Conference, taking place 11-12 June at @EdinburghUni! Our final programme has a fascinating mix of panels PLUS a keynote by @InmaNSanchez (University of Edinburgh). To sign up, follow the link: https://t.co/VwhBJy0ghJ
My job as a research fellow at one of the world's best universities (a requirement of which is a doctorate) pays less than this and so, on this definition, I am an unskilled worker who wouldn't be allowed into the country. This system is utterly ridiculous..
@SederiYearbook @SederiJunior @IntermedialEd@EdinburghUni So honoured and touched with my Article of the Month badge! 📜 And, happy memories! It was wonderful to work with you 🥂
“Educators and students aren’t two sides engaged in a fight against each other.
They are two groups of victims harmed by the ongoing marketisation of HE”
Thanks @Taj_Ali1 for highlighting staff🤝student solidarity
@UCEA1 won’t divide us

A good overview of the frightening rise of the far right in Germany: in short, they hate immigrants, LGBTQI folk, and climate protections (now makes sense why my German hosts were telling me the AfD are against bike lanes among everything else): https://t.co/WQRlyh2fzg
@devorahshawa @S_Mittermeier I would use it! We could add this one too: #lovebikesandqueers ?
Same in Spain now with the far right in local governments, banning 🏳️🌈 from official buildings and trying to remove (to remove!) bike lanes, so stupid... and scary 😐
To any student whose degree might be on hold partly because of my participation in the #MAB, I'd like to say that I'm deeply sorry. I also have duties to junior colleagues, and it's for them that I'm taking action. I'll do everything else in my power to assist you in your career.
very disappointing to see both uni of kent, where i did an exchange programme at undergrad, and uni of edinburgh, where i did my masters, both treating their staff deplorably. there have been strikes since at least 2018 because they cannot bother to support their professors
I saw that a university is offering £60 per script to undermine MAB. If my university paid me that much for marking, that would add up to nearly all my salary. If unis are so loaded, they should consider paying us fairly & not forcing us to work at burn-out rates.
Jade did amazing and made such brilliant points so graciously, in spite of the frustrating interruptions and biases of the journalist. What a difficult interview. Thank you Jade for the unbeatable solidarity!
"Absolute solidarity with the lecturers"
Thank you to student Jade Taylor for her message to the British public on @BBCr4today this morning👇
Staff & students will not be divided. @UCEA1 fix this now!

will the media let us speak? I just appeared on @TimesRadio with presenter @MattChorley. he created a narrative that I am a poor student upset by the work of the @ucu, THAT IS NOT THE CASE! the fault is with @UCEA1 and the universities! stop silencing students! #markingboycott
imagine another semester of strikes and no marking, a backlog of assignments that have not been touched, increased tension within universities, increased stress and anxiety for staff and students. @UCEA1, can you not see not see that higher education is on the brink of collapse?
These are actual examples of responses the strike breaking exam markers are giving final year students.
What an absolute disgrace.
And the employer @UCEA1 stands by as the dispute grows increasingly bitter.
Please RT this so they are completely exposed.
So wonderful to give a talk on Global Shakespeare in this truly beautiful stage! Muchísimas gracias a la @udg_oficial and #FIID26 for the invitation and for being absolutely delightful hosts!
Join us next Tuesday for an intermedial celebration of embodied verses, of poetry and dance, with Adeline Chevrier-Bosseau (Sorbonne Université) and our own MSc student Liz Yun as respondent! All most welcome! 🤸🏽♀️📜

Join me this evening (if there's nothing better on TV) for a take on transnational Shakespeare on screen as we'll travel across historical, cultural and media borders! 🌍📜📽️
Our next webinar will be on Monday (24 April, 17:15). Dr Inma Sánchez García (Edinburgh) 'Shakespeare in 1960s European Cinema: A Transnational Perspective'. You can register through our Eventbrite page here https://t.co/WiNLQ2XVeG @LLCatEdinburgh@HCAatEdinburgh@nemnetwork_
This is the reality of the sector. Universities rely on discretionary labour -- on all the staff who do so much more than the working week allows, and do it because they love their subject, their research, their students.

A slightly belated but very big THANK YOU to Isabel Guerrero, Marta Cerezo, their students @uned_filologia for having me over in mediatised form to give the closing plenary of their fabulous masters' conference, IX MELCIPS! 🖥️📖 A highlight of my week, and beyond! ¡Mil gracias!
