🎄Heartfelt thanks to all the people who have formed and are part of our oceanic family; to all the people who have helped us make our projects a reality; to all of you who have made it possible for us to reach more people. We wish you, from Innoceana, happy holidays.
🦀Would you like to dive in one of the most incredible places in the world? How about better understanding (or discovering) the wonders surrounding crustaceans and other invertebrates? If you answered yes, join one of our #marineconservation expeditions at the MCEC in Costa Rica!
Spanish company Nueva Pescanova plans to open its first intensive commercial octopus farm in Gran Canaria in 2022. If you want to know why this project isn’t ethically or environmentally correct, head to the link https://t.co/xnC20WTYgv to read the manifesto and sign the petition
🐟 This is a Madeira rockfish, but don't let the name fool you! This is a type of scorpionfish and it has venomous spines. These fish use camouflage to wait for small crustaceans to approach and eat them. 🪱 Do you see the squiggle in its eye? This is likely a parasite.
🧜🏽 Are you looking for your marine conservation internship for next year? Search no more!

🌊 We’re going to the #SustainableOceanSummit (SOS) 2022 together next month in Barcelona! (Oct 17-18)
🏝This event connects industrial sectors and environmental organizations with investors to carry out #sustainable management and #conservation of marine resources.
💦 Water quality testing, #algaebloom edition! We test the water samples for levels of elements such as #nitrate, #oxygen, and #carbondioxide.
🔬 By looking at the water under a #microscope, we can identify what type of algae may be causing the bloom.
🌊Last month the Costa Rica’s MCEC became part of a NOAA outreach program called the Phytoplankton Monitoring Network (PMN), which is designed to study microscopic algae called #phytoplankton. When these microalgae grow excessively, they form #redtides or “#blooms” 📸
