@BriaH_2014 That’s true. If you’re currently in “in school deferment”, payments won’t count even if you make payments on your loans. So either don’t make payments or call to get your deferment taken off.
Despite the current National Teacher of the Year honor going to a Black male history teacher in Ohio, the shortage of Black men in the profession has been evident for years. https://t.co/V9ldLBdWrP
1/ As people flee Twitter, or threaten to, in response to Elon’s takeover and the harassment it has already spawned and likely will bc of less content moderation, there are some things I’ve noticed. Please follow this thread and share it. It’s sorta important…
@ReadItAndLeaf We’re all nervous but seeing so many successes has me hopeful. Social media has made it so that we all understand and help each other out with this crazy process. Good luck!
@vero2166 Be patient. And by patient I mean pretend that you didn’t submit the paperwork at all. 😜 I submitted my application over a month ago. I have friends that were forgiven and it takes at least 4-6 months for them to process things. Good luck!
@ReadItAndLeaf The answer to your question is yes. Consolidate ASAP and once the consolidation is finished submit the PSLF application. You want this all in well before the October waiver deadline.
@ogloriaokorie @AP Yes, but only if you have federal direct loans of your own. You can consolidate those loans with the parent plus loans and under the waiver it can all be forgiven.
@clminks @MyFedLoan It’s been happening to a lot of people. 🙄 If you call (which sucks bc of wait times), they can make the correction and get it processed faster than resubmitting.
@JuliaHellwege @imhartshorn I say that because many people have been getting a lot of inaccurate information from the employees at their call center right now.
@JuliaHellwege @imhartshorn MOHELA will be handling everything regarding the loans they have including PSLF. They will not start processing anything until July 1st based on a directive from the Department of Education. I wouldn’t trust anything they say when calling them until then.
