I think if authors are too poor to survive piracy and readers are too poor not to pirate then we need to have a really serious conversation about where all that money is and why it isn't circulating properly.
It's soooo achingly obvious when a white queer talks about homophobia in African/west Asian countries that they're talking about "they'd opress ME if I went there" instead of "they're currently actively oppressing the black/brown queers there"
epub pirating sites being taken down isn’t just cutting off free entertainment, it’s cutting off free education for people who can’t afford it. stop sharing the websites publicly.
all things considered I don't really understand why it would be so crazy and "stereotypical" for the Hollanders to maybe sometimes have Japanese food? with the world we live in right now I'm sure people with *no* Japanese descent also sometimes have Japanese food
Speaking of men who take over spaces that weren't meant for them...
This is a separate, cordoned-off "teen area" at my library. It has a single entrance that is clearly marked "TEEN," and the shelves contain only books for teens. There are ALWAYS 2–4 grown men lounging inside.
"i'm not obsessed with sex... just can't stop thinking about it. The performance of it... the awkwardness of it... the drama of it. The moment you realise someone wants your body... Not so much the feeling of it." - Phoebe Waller-Bridge scene from Fleabag
When we complain about Shane's identity not being addressed, it's not us wanting him to eat sushi. White people in Western countries also eat sushi. It's that him being Asian makes no difference to his character except for his physical appearance.
Yall need to actually reread Heated Rivalry because Shane has zero food issues at all the whole book. Like whatever RR says, TLG Shane was going through the horrors to have developed that type of eating habit in the span of 3 years.
