For me, Cucurella is one of the best full backs in the world right now, with a top notch footballing game.

But the thing I like about him the most is his characteristic aspect of perseverance, tenacity and relentlessness of running up and down the field like a mad bull for the team.

I saw some highlights video of Hato, and I don’t know why, but Hato gives me the same characteristic vibe as that I feel for Cucurella. I hope I am right. Hato has already represented Ajax for more than 100 games at this very young age, which itself speaks about him.

Hope Hato joins Chelsea soon, if one Cucurella was not easy to handle by opponents then let them have another one.

From the current squad i see Neto, Barco and Quenda at LWB. If Xabi feels he need to buy a new LWB, so be it then. But the wing backs should be of Xabi's choice as the wing backs are very important for his system.

Cucurella will definitely be missed, and it's good that he made the decision sooner, however, according to me the transfer has one big positive (apart from the money):

Xabi Alonso now has clear information on exactly what kind of left-back or left wing-back he needs to buy or develop.

If the owners are doing the course correction by giving more power to Xabi Alonso, then as a fan patience is the virtue here.

If the owners are stubborn to keep on experimenting and flirting only with youths recruitment, then as a fan the decisions of owners shall be scrutinized.

But as I said, if Xabi is been given more power than predecessors, patience will be required.

If Chelsea FC want more experience in midfield, they should consider signing Kevin De Bruyne for one or two years. His wages should not be the main concern because he is a leader, respected by players, and unlikely to cause problems with salary balance.

Reports suggest he is not enjoying at Napoli, so Chelsea could take advantage of this situation.

If De Bruyne is not possible, Chelsea should try to bring in Granit Xhaka as another strong midfield option.

💡By keeping things simple how Enzo Maresca defeated PSG in CWC finals, my thoughts and guesses.

1) No ball possession football instead go for direct ball.

Enzo Maresca kept the gameplay simple by going for direct ball approach which is nothing but the long ball approach.

Why?

It’s quite evident that PSG press high and hard, so ball possession football was out scope for Chelsea as PSG would have pressed hard and block the passing lanes. The hard pressing of PSG would have caused us to miss place the passes or fumble, thereby losing the ball at high up the pitch at Chelsea’s end.

So, Long passes to Gusto and Neto or any available midfield.

By why those long passes?

PSG were busy trying to press Chelsea high on the pitch, Chelsea made the long passes in PSG half in their last line of defence, thereby by passing the first 2 pressing line of PSG.

If by any chance Chelsea player looses the long ball, then it will take time for PSG to arrange themselves from pressing shape to passing and attacking shape. Chelsea would anticipate the loss of that long ball and press hard to not allow PSG regain their offensive shape. Simple tactics but useful.

Once this play rhythm was set then Chelsea begin to dictate and set the tempo.

2) Man to man marking the PSG player and press them hard when defending.

3) Young legs which never gave up.

Last time when I checked him out saw him play in CM and CDM role, performed well and didn't see him to be error prone.

However, just like Santos, a loan to Strasbourgh will be required for two years, but It all depends on how Lavia is perceived by Chelsea Management in near future.

See him more of a rotational player.

I assume Liam Rosenior has a good impact on the Champions League front and top 4 finish in EPL.

The team has played with each other for a good amount of time, i just wish Rosenior to have a Tuchel-like run at the Champions League.

The positive energy in the team can certainly make it happen.
