Some very interesting stuff in that NYR presser. Tony Deangelo, so well liked but he’s finished in New York? The Rangers were comfortable after investigating his OHL slur incident? Idk man.
Any thoughts of trying to terminate DeAngelo's contract?
Gorton: "No. We’re not talking about that. We’re talking about finding him another place to play and letting him move on with his career and wishing him the best of luck."

Gorton was asked if #NYR had researched DeAngelo's past before acquiring him in 2017, including his OHL suspensions.
"Absolutely. We did a lot of research. Talked to a lot of people about Tony prior to acquiring him. … We did our homework. We felt comfortable."

Quinn did say, "Tony was a very well-liked teammate (and) he was liked by the coaches."
As for on ice, "He's not going to be replaced by one guy."

DQ said he wants to leave it mostly to JD and Gorton to address the DeAngelo situation, but he did say, "It’s not an easy day – I can’t reiterate that enough." #NYR
JD said he brought Tony into his office recently to had a good discussion with him. Also noted that they've monitored his social media use.
"My feeling was with Tony, we had to try to help Tony. Tony’s got a lot of good attributes, but sometimes he gets in his own way."

Gorton said Tony's situation began to spiral after he got scratched in Game 2. "Tony wasn’t able to move on from that."
JG indicated issues stemmed from that and he threatened to waive him if he continued to cause problems. Then Saturday happened and JG stuck to his word.

Has Tony played his last game for the Rangers?
"Yes," Gorton says plainly.
He's been assigned to the taxi squad and Gorton said they're looking for another place for him to play.

I asked Gorton if he could clear the air about what happened Saturday and why they decided to waive DeAngelo.
"We had an incident that happened. It’s in our room. We’re dealing with… Our team is ready to move on."

JD starts presser by addressing "misinformation."
"There’s been a fan blog out there that has stirred some things up… that is 100% false. There’s no truth to it whatsoever."
"To have K'Andre Miller pulled into this is really disappointing."
