The ANC-laden Limpopo Provincial Legislature booked and cancelled 3 sets of non-refundable Qatar Airways flights (& accommodation) costing R1.8 million in total, for the Commonwealth Parliament Association summit in Gambia.
Reason for the serial cancellations: Secretary to the Limpopo legislature, one Comrade Timothy Maake, insisted his PhD title appear on tickets, despite not being an original delegation member. Bro holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Limpopo. The bamboozled Qatar Airways explained that academic titles are not allowed on tickets, to avoid confusion with medical doctors—& bro threw tantrums each time, leading to the non-refundable cancellations.
Legislature spokesperson, one Comrade Andries Lekalakala says addressing Cde Maake as Mr instead of Dr is not only unlawful, invalid & vexatious, it is also a gross violation of his rights, hence the wasted R1.8 million is justifiable.
It’s not immediately clear if the Limpopo legislature intends to haul Qatar Airways before the UN Human Rights Commission, or the International Court of Justice.
This is a developing story.
