Last week students from @TDSS_YRDSB had the chance to try out the sport of road tennis.

In addition to trying out the game, students engaged in learning about the history of the game as well as its cultural significance in Barbados, where the sport was created.

Yesterday, students at @AshtonMeadowsPS had the chance to try out the Barbados national sport of road tennis.

This sport that originated in Barbados has a long history that students are also learning about as part of a pilot that is taking place at multiple schools in YRDSB.

This January 29th, join the #GreenSquareCampaign.

On this seventh anniversary of the Quebec City mosque shooting that shook the country, help Stem the Tide against violent #Islamophobia.

Ask your local city officials and businesses if they are doing their part to help stop the spike in anti-Muslim hatred.

It is also officially the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia on January 29th.

Make sure to pin a small piece of green fabric to your lapel to show solidarity in this fight. Green is the colour of the Quebec City Mosque carpet where our beloved worshippers stood.

It is also the colour of Paradise.

Sept 30 marks the 3rd annual Nat'l Day for Truth & Reconciliation.

A day to honour the children who never returned home & survivors of residential schools, as well as their families & communities.

All schools & workplaces will raise the Every Child Matters flag this week.
