We were honored by the presence of Pickering Mayor @MayorKevinAshe, who not only joined in the celebration but also volunteered in the Devi Mandir kitchen, cooking for the students. We’re grateful as well to the local #gurdwara volunteers and management who supported the event, helping prepare and serve delicious food, snacks, tea, and dinner for everyone. 🙏🍲

We predicted after the #Sb403 veto - the “caste” warriors would be back… And, as expected our favorite serial prevaricator, “Prof” Audrey Truschke is at it- pushing out her latest salvo to her echo chamber of devotees. Currently she is pretending that she had nothing to do with this and is tweeting out some "third-party" work, so we thought we'd share this with the real world..

A university task force (which Prof. Truschke co-chaired), has released a report ominously titled “Caste Based Discrimination in US Higher Education at Rutgers”. To cut to the chase, like every report of its kind, this one is a breathless denouement of a problem for which there is no evidence.

As the report admits (although buried on page 20), there is no systematic data. We will say that again for those who wish to save time -NO SYSTEMATIC DATA, just some personal anecdotes on varying issues.

The entire report and recommendations are based on FIVE anecdotes that we list here.

1. In a class discussion, a boy said he was Brahmin and his parents would not let him (hypothetically) marry a #Dalit. Did it constitute a hostile environment to another classmate who had (secretly) identified as Dalit-his teacher wondered?

2. A grad student answered an ad for a flatmate. They told her that they were a #vegetarian household. They did not prohibit meat but asked that it be restricted to her room. The landlord originally took her side, but later felt he could not interfere in people's personal choice.

3. An undergrad student who "identifies as chamar" was told by her family that “it is better not to tell people what #caste I belong to”.

4. In an argument over seating at a dining hall one of the people told her "Why don't y'all go sit with your Patel Brothers" (This one is particularly weird - looks like this was a comment made by non-Indians to Indians, nothing to do with Caste)

5. A professor who was at a CAA protest heard a counter protestor say "aap kinke aulad ho" (literally, “what do you see as your heritage”) - which she "took as a #casteist remark, directed at some students nearby"

That’s it! That’s all the ‘evidence’ the task force was able to unearth after 8 months trolling of campuses for evidence of “caste-based discrimination (is) a problem at Rutgers that limits the potential and opportunities of some of our university community” (Their words, not ours).

The rest of the report, co-authored by #AudreyTruschke is simply a mishmash repeat of the usual tropes – #immutable, caste, #discrimination, caste, pernicious social hierarchy, caste, caste, caste.

With no sense of irony, the report recommends that “Rutgers should collect further data on caste-based discrimination on campus.” In other words, we couldn’t find any reliable evidence, but we know it exists, so please give us more money to keep trying to find it.

We will post a more detailed rebuttal to the other absurdities in the report in due course. But even a cursory reading of the report makes it clear that this was going to be the recommendation – to publicize and create #CasteInUS even if it means manufacturing evidence for a “problem” that just simply isn't there. Obviously, that means funneling more public money into the pockets of virulently #antiHindu groups such as #EqualityLabs.

While it is really up to @RutgersU as to how it spends its public money, this report is a clear example of how it can and is being misused and abused and hate is created. Funding and empowering #Hinduphobic players like these, sends a clear signal on how the University views the concerns of #Hindustudents on campus. We also ask the #HinduAmerican community to think long and hard before sending their dollars and children to a school where there is blatant #Hinduphobia.
