@AlexComber_ The sanction involves breaking EFL rules.
What is doesn't take into account is the conduct of the club & management, and that an intern was pressured on more than one occasion to spy against his will.
Ultimately that would be gross misconduct in any other workplace.
Incredible lines in @danroan's exclusive interview with Dragan Solak:
๐ฅ Won't sack Eckert
๐ฅ Southampton "over-sentenced"
๐ฅ Diving worse than spying
๐ฅ Intern should have spoken up "stronger"
๐ฅ Blames intern for going late
๐ฅ Deflects initial lies

@spj1960@AdamBlackmore It looked and sounded less 'from the heart', and more from a hostage release video.
Autocue, staged, terrible.
It wasn't heartfelt, and full of excuses hidden by 'context'.
@mattletiss7 So if the FA ban Eckert for his actions, for bringing the game into disrepute, for pressuring junior staff, then the FA would be wrong?
As a player, would you forgive your manager for breaking the rules and potentially costing you a place in the PL, and huge financial payout?
@benjii82@SouthamptonFC If it went to an employment tribunal I know who would win.
You seriously believe pressuring junior staff to break rules is fine?
It's gross misconduct in any other workplace. I'm guessing that when the FA ban him, you'll say that's a 'kangaroo court' too.
@SouthamptonFC I seem to have missed the apology to those junior members of staff put under pressure to break the rules, but are still expected to continue to work with you. More excuses wrapped up in 'context'.
@Champchatpod24 Even if Eckert didn't know that hiding behind trees to film training sessions wasn't 'rule breaking', putting pressure on junior staff to do so, against their will, doesn't deserve boardroom support. Support the staff put in that position, not the manager. Terrible #SaintsFC
@lavuelta The international spirit and collaboration shown through sport should never be stopped by those seeking publicity for their own political aims.
A sad day for sport. Everyone has a right to protest, but everyone should also have the right to safely enjoy sport
@OUFCOfficial Given we've sold out for Plymouth and Leeds, will the club be asking for more tickets?
Apparently we could have had a further 900 tickets for Leeds, but didn't request them. Very annoyed.
