Ongoing training on #climate, #gender & #conflict in Wolaita Soddo, Ethiopia, with gov’t & CSO reps from South Omo Zone (Nyangatom & Dassanech Woredas). Participants are building skills to strengthen #conflictsensitive & #genderresponsive approaches to climate-induced conflict.
Last week, we had the honor of hosting our Executive Director, Nic Hailey, during his visit to Nairobi.
While in Nairobi, he met with several stakeholders, including CSO leaders, members of the Pastoralist Parliamentary Group, & representatives from various diplomatic missions.
The visit also provided space to exchange perspectives on #peace and #security in Kenya and the broader Horn of Africa, while reflecting on shared regional challenges such as #climate shocks, political transitions, and socio-political unrest.
Progress towards the #SDGs has stalled in conflict-affected places. This #FFD4 conference, governments, #developmentfinance institutions and investors can change this.

This initiative was held in collaboration with @Saferworld, @DanChurchAid, Ethiopian Catholic Church, Ethiopian Institute for Peace, @TUPADO_, and @apadlodwar, with support from @AustrianDev (the Austrian Development Agency).
The workshop provided a critical space for the stakeholders to jointly reflect, build trust, and co-develop policy and security responses that are inclusive, conflict and gender-sensitive, and climate-aware.
This was part of a broader peacebuilding effort to address the drivers of conflict in the region, which is home to pastoralist communities that share deep cultural ties but also face recurring tensions over access to water, pasture, & L. Turkana amid climate stress.
We supported a 2-day cross-border policy dialogue in Kakuma-Turkana County, targeting key government officials & security teams from Kenya & Ethiopia to find a way forward on lasting solutions to the persistent conflicts affecting communities in the Turkana-South Omo borderlands.
