I bought a Playstation Portable a few months ago and wanted to learn how to build programs for it.
Instead of just building some sample programs, I ported an Another World/Out of this World engine.

I've been working on a Z80 high-level assembler in my free time for fun and I've decided to put it on github: https://t.co/etuIFXwCHs

@masterlinkueibr NTSC allows for about 240 visible lines (PAL has even more), most games on the SNES opted for a 256x224 pixel resolution. So depending on the CRT and its settings you could see vertical bars.
@leiradel @FlohOfWoe I don't know what you need exactly, but if you want to see how a Z80 works at the clock cycle level, you could use a VHDL simulator, for example, with something like the T80 cpu core which is a VHDL Z80 core. It should be accurate enough.
For those curious on how the video works on my console, I
finally finished writing the post about it:

I also wrote an online simulator as a companion for the post:

@shano002000 I use a microcontroller to serve as an interface between the CPU and the SD Card, the CPU just requests simple commands like "open file", "read file", etc. And the CPU puts the read bytes into RAM.
But using a ROM cartridge does make it a lot simpler.
@SarahJaneAvory I was curious, how do you know if your games are not too hard to beat but not too easy either.
Do you have get some people you trust playing them before release and tweak the difficulty depending on their input?
A few people have asked when the post on my video game console's video system would be out.
It's almost finished, one of the reasons it's taking so long might be because a part of it will be interactive.
@shano002000 Yes, I've actually already started writing it. I just haven't had much time for it lately.
I'm gonna try to finish it by next week or so.
Thanks for the interest 🙂.
Just wrote a new blog post, this time on how the CPU Board of my homebrew video game console works:
