I think my biggest achievement in campus other than kutoka bila kupeana mimba is that I never got a resit or retake ata mara moja na I only attended just 20% of my classes in my 4 years. Before you ask, no sikuwa nafanya criminology.
Work is very funny. There was a time I was constantly clashing with a 59-year-old woman whose husband left her for Europe. She was raising three sons and one daughter on her own. She comes across as very bitter and openly identifies as a feminist.
Our points of view were completely different. There is something was in the milk during Moi’s era that anyone who grew up then seems to carry a certain “KANU” mindset. We had issues because I refused to wake up at 4:00 a.m. to go and teach. When I think about it, I used to see my Chemistry teacher once per term and still passed sweating for it, yes but I passed. Another conflict arose when I did not attend an examiner’s session on a Sunday, yet I am not even sitting for any examination.I work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and I do not go to school on Saturdays or Sundays. I believe in maintaining boundaries. I have noticed that the older generation tends to complicate work with unnecessary bureaucracy. Our biggest tussle was about the code of conduct. She would read it and interpret it to her advantage, even quoting sections during briefings that I could not find anywhere. But I read. I verify. I confirm. We also disagreed because I read the school’s three-year audit report, which made me question what she was afraid of. At one point, I even threatened to write a letter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) regarding remedial fees, especially after the High Court of Kenya declared such charges illegal.
One day, I will speak with hard evidence.
And when she was in prison, she didn't cry about it. She rather transformed it into a palace-like place. May we pray for the spirit of Perpetua, that instead of crying about unlikable situations, we transform them into something loveable and liveable.
This week, we celebrate Saint Perpetua. She only identified with what resonated with her. She didn't denounce Christianity because she couldn't call herself anything else other than a Christian. She even accepted to go to prison for that.
So it is illegal to shoot a pilot who has ejected from a disabled aircraft while they are descending by parachute. classified as a war crime under international law. Interesting!
