It is underappreciated how much of the world is Basically Fine. It is a mistake to think of the world outside the First World as all downtrodden - much more of it is nondescript than people think and in talking about the rest of world it is better to be sober about actual reality

Part of this Samuel Sey and @JoelWBerry thing is because people believe it's some sort of pit of despair outside of the west.

Imagine Samuel Say lived in Ghana.

What would his life be like? He might.. get coffee in the morning, work his job, post stuff online and go to church.

I know I differ with many conservatives on immigration. I am all for cracking down on criminals; particularly violent and sexual predators. Absolutely, kick them out.

But there are a lot of genuinely sweet people who just want a better life for themselves and their kids.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Yes, they should immigrate legally. But even legal immigration in our country is a convoluted, expensive, and lengthy process. Mistakes happen. Corners get cut in desperation.

We need to simplify it.

We need to open the door for hard working, honest, family-folks like Samuel, while keeping out malevolent threats.

This shouldn’t be complicated.

People are making it complicated.

@JoelWBerry It is not a punishment to live in their own countries. They're not being sent to the shadow realm. These people are not trying to "escape hell, to live a better life." There are some genuinely dangerous places in the third world, but escaping those don't require crossing oceans.

The media is doing this because they don't like Elon, but also because Tesla doesn't advertise. They've done almost no traditional advertising of any kind.

When a news org says something negative about GM/Dodge/Ford, they can get advertising funding pulled in retaliation. When they say something negative about Tesla, they get accolades from the anti-Elon crowd and no real negative consequences.

Most Indians, and indeed most ethnic minorities, are natural conservatives. Most will support immigration control, most will support tax cuts, most have strong family values, most are devoutly religious and most will respect the country they live in.
