So I’m choosing the opposite.
I’m going all in. I’ll feel things fully.
I’ll care loudly. I’ll love recklessly. I’ll get excited like a kid and hurt like a human.
Because one day, after I’ve lived enough
maybe I will become nonchalant.
But when I get there, it won’t be an act.
I’m done pretending to be nonchalant.
Because I finally understand something
True nonchalance isn’t an aesthetic. It’s not a vibe. It’s something you have to earn.
If I start imitating that “too-cool-to-care” attitude now,
Which is the most surface level trait of Nonchalance
I’ll build emotional armor I haven’t even needed yet.
I’ll numb myself before life even has the chance to touch me.
And that’s not strength. That’s premature death.
@CEOLandshark Is that adaptability something you can develop by repeatedly throwing yourself into the arena and feeling that knot in your stomach, facing the discomfort, and gradually building that ‘improv muscle’ through exposure? Or is it something you either naturally have or don’t?
@coltybrah Most over-optimizers especially young folks who go full schizo-biohacker route, do it because they’re not really living.
They feel life slipping by, but instead of facing it, they try to preserve themselves, holding onto youth so one day they will finally get to live.
