The city's plan to close Rikers by 2027 is "not a perfect plan, but it’s the best plan thus far. And to do the bold and necessary thing—to see this plan through to completion—will take moral courage and political leadership."

"Space Needed for Texas Families at Camps"
NEW for @CityLimitsNews: NYC could use summer camps to house recently arrived immigrants who'd otherwise enter the strained homeless shelter system
In an email, a large camp assoc asked its members for space https://t.co/HaIoDvVe6K
@megancoyne23 you go girl!!! So so glad your there at the White House. I'm sure the Governor misses you already but it's for a good cause. Right place, right time. Your country needs you. I'm very grateful !!!

@openheartsnyc Mr. Zabar was also very unsupportive of the "Avenue Church' on the east side which has a wonderful homeless outreach program. Good smoked salmon does not a good neighbor make.
The @bronxtimes has done great, consistent coverage of the Throggs Neck/Bruckner rezoning & a plan to turn an empty building on the Jacobi Hospital campus into supportive housing for formerly incarcerated people with medical needs

The 3 Dems running for an open State Senate seat in The Bronx/Westchester have a few things in common:
They all oppose a rezoning at Bruckner Blvd for ~350 new apartments & supportive housing for sick, formerly incarcerated ppl at Jacobi

More outreach is great, but what's really needed to end homelessness is housing--and outreach workers currently don't have nearly enough of the types of housing options to offer that folks on the streets want (i.e. single rooms).
As New York City Struggles to find apartments for the 22,000 CityFHEPs voucher holders and the over 5,000 Federal EHV (Emergency Housing Vouchers) we should look to the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership as a model of supporting landlords and tenants https://t.co/FqiAJhZ3nP
@ChrisMurphyCT Just think how much more he’d accomplish with larger majorities in the House & Senate. Everyone needs to get onboard to vote come November 8th & make that happen. Everything to help you plan for that date is at https://t.co/xQAOQ5xIWR. C’mon, we need a larger 🌊 than in 2020.
@smc429@ChrisMurphyCT And just this week most Republicans voted against having access to contraceptives (yes, reread that, they really did), protections for same sex marriage, and an Active Shooter alert system.
What if two years ago, I told you that by the end of Biden's first two years:
- 10 million new jobs
- 3.6% unemployment
- 86% drop in COVID death rate
- biggest ever infrastructure bill PASSED
- first gun safety bill in 30 yrs PASSED
(wait, just getting started...keep reading)
