The Department of the Interior, alongside the USFS, and California state law enforcement, is actively monitoring a small brush fire reported in California within the last 30 minutes.

We remain in close coordination with the locals and will provide updates as time progresses.

The Office of Secretary of the Interior David Fisher will be closed on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, due to personal business.

Normal operations will resume on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The Department of the Interior is actively monitoring the ongoing situation in the Florida Everglades National Park.
Secretary Fisher remains in direct contact with Gov. Reddington, as well as local law enforcement.

The Department of the Interior notes Secretary Fisher’s deep disappointment with tonight’s Senate decision to fail S.35014, which would have merged the Department of Agriculture into DOI.

Without this merger, the DoA risks reduced activity and diminished effectiveness.

We toured DOI building, unveiled her new VP portrait, and discussed future collaboration on national projects.

Today Interior Secretary Fisher and I visited an animal rehab facility at Patapsco Valley State Park. This center takes injured wildlife from around the globe for special and modern treatment that no other nation has and is critical for protecting wildlife.

The Department of the Interior applauds Senator Jennifer Carey for introducing S.34002, the Bureau of Land Management Creation Act.

This legislation will help the DOI better manage our public lands, and responsibly manage our natural resources.
