Given recent events, I wanted to post a quick update.
If you’re interested in staying in touch, I’d recommend following through other channels. To be honest, my game dev has come to almost a complete stop — but if I do have updates, I’ll likely be posting there, not here.
I know I posted a Threads profile recently, but I’ll likely be abandoning that, too (for similar reasons). Honestly, Discord is the most up-to-date — by which I mean I haven’t posted an update for months XP

I set up an official account so you can stay updated in case things go south here. Again, even though Wing is on hiatus, I haven’t given up on my game dev dreams!

Update: Wing is going on a semi-hiatus.
Recently, I got married! While my partner is very supportive and I enjoy indie dev, I also want stable income for my family. As such, I've decided to look for full-time work elsewhere (though I may still spend some free time on Wing).
@Brevilllo Thank you! I’m detecting collisions using raycasts and 2D colliders. It’s a system based on the one Celeste’s devs used, which they shared here: https://t.co/afx2gRYUao
This prototype shows code-based movement that doesn't use Unity's physics, giving players much more precise control!
I need a short break from Wing, but I started this system in Wing and intend to incorporate it back in.

Wing is at a critical stage of development where followers make a big difference. Regardless of what happens, I hope we stay connected!
Still need to finish up a few things and do final play testing, but we're nearly ready for the next update!
In the meantime, here's a look at some of the upcoming movement.

I updated the title screen so I could add a fun visual reward for collectibles. I don't want to spoil the reward, but here's the new title screen!

Does this room look familiar? It's fascinating to me that even with a similar room layout, two platformers can feel totally different based on their core movement.

Going this fast isn't required, but it sure is fun.
Still making progress on new rooms and setting up some business things!

Flapping is most effective when timed properly. I added a feather effect to indicate bad timing, making that mechanic more visible to the player.
As a bonus, the feathers also make for a fun, thematic death effect!
