Ne padomju okupācijas laikā iebraukušie, ne vienkārši Latvijas krievi kā grupa nav upuri, kurus apspiež vairākums jeb latvieši.

Okupācijas pieminekļa nojaukšana, Krievijas naida kanālu aizliegšana un krievu skolu slēgšana nebija sasteigtas. Gluži otrādi.

Visi tie, kas iestājas par latviešu valodas lomas stiprināšanu, nav mistiski nacionālisti un konservatīvie ar rungām. Šāda cilvēku rāmēšana, manuprāt, ir mērķtiecīga sabiedrības šķelšana. Galu galā par latviešu valodas lomas stiprināšanu pēc kara sākuma balsoja arī Saskaņas un A/Par frakcijas.

Joprojām ir dzīvi tie, kurus izsūtīja padomju vara, un absolūti nevaru piekrist pētnieka Mārtiņa Hirša (@MHirss) argumentiem.

Vērtību pārdefinēšana – okupācijas laikā iebraukušie kā upuri, bet latvieši kā apspiedēji – ir vienkārši nepieņemama.

All these years, Putin has waged and escalated this war and committed mass war crimes for one fundamental reason — because he is ALLOWED to do so.

He is ALLOWED to do so by everyone who, for three decades now, has been dancing around Putin and his bottomless ego, staging an endless festival of appeasement and permissiveness, no matter what madness he unleashes — up to the point of sheer, deranged absurdity.

Putin bombs and reduces Ichkeria to ashes — nothing but “expressions of concern” from the OSCE and PACE.
The Kremlin openly deploys radiological (!) and chemical (!) weapons on the territory of the United Kingdom to poison its opponents — no serious consequences, Russia remains in the G8, and London keeps welcoming Russian oligarchs with their billions.

Putin wages war against Georgia — and receives yet another “reset of relations” with the White House.
He seizes Crimea from Ukraine — and is met with toothless sanctions, while Nord Stream 2 is fast-tracked at full speed. Europe sinks deeper into Russia’s gas dependency, while Ukraine is banned from receiving weapons for self-defense, because that would be “escalation.”

Inside Russia’s media space — years of frenzied propaganda of total war and hatred against Ukraine and the West — answered by crowds of “Putin-understanders,” performing rhetorical gymnastics about what else the West “owes” Putin.

He unleashes bloodshed in Donbas, his regular troops together with terrorist enclaves shoot down MH17 — the result: new symbolic sanctions, endless UN Security Council sessions, and another chorus about the “need for dialogue with Russia.”

All of this because, supposedly, he has “nuclear weapons,” because “we need cheap Russian gas,” because “we fear World War III” — all excuses Putin has brilliantly exploited for decades.

He amasses a giant army to invade and occupy Ukraine — and for years, Western leaders coddled him, pleaded with him, offered every possible concession, compromise, summit, guarantee, and privilege.

He launches the largest war of aggression in Europe since Hitler: mass destruction, mass killings, mass war crimes — and in response, military aid to a heroically fighting Ukraine is deliberately delayed for years “to give Putin a chance to stop and save face.” And lest Putin be “angered” and there be “escalation,” Ukraine has been forbidden for years from striking the Russian war machine on Russian territory — an absurdity beyond comprehension.

To the point where a bleeding Ukraine was literally slapped on the wrist for daring to hit Russia’s oil industry and military radar sites (“major escalation!!”). Tell me: who else in history has ever conceived of such madness — helping a nation defend itself with one hand, while restraining it with the other, granting advantages to a dominant military aggressor?

And now, after these ridiculous pseudo-theories of “escalation management” have proved in practice to be totally bankrupt and catastrophically harmful, he is still being welcomed with red carpets, bowed to, almost having his boots kissed, applauded, his oil and gas bought, invited to endless summits — while the priority remains: to get rid of “this war with this Ukraine” as quickly as possible and get back to business as usual with Putin.

Some do this because they are vain buffoons with an upside-down moral compass. Some because of chronic impotence and cowardice. Some because they profit from buying his oil and financing his war machine, believing this “conflict” is too far away to matter. And some simply because they are shameless crooks.

And all of them think the consequences will never touch them.

They are wrong.

For now this mediocrity — this gray, corrupt bureaucrat from the KGB and St. Petersburg’s city hall — has been fattened up so much that he openly mocks his servile fan, the President of the United States, making him look like a fool before the entire world.

Today this foul-mouthed nothing, who for the fourth year cannot defeat Ukraine and keeps throwing tens of thousands of lives away for nameless ruins of Ukrainian villages in Donbas, behaves as if he commands armored armadas standing on the English Channel — and demands to be indulged with a “peace treaty” as if he were already dictating Europe’s fate.

And this is only the beginning.

He is ALLOWED everything, and he will demand EVERYTHING.
