Today's factoid is that the hooded pitohui is one of the few bird species that are actually poisonous. Their feathers and skins contain the same neurotoxin found in poison dart frogs. You can find these birds in New Guinea.

It was also brought up the human blood smells like iron. This implies that fae blood smells different. I read a couple of books in which fae smell like honey, so I am theorizing it smells rather sweet.

Today's factoid is that the common belief that fae avoid or are sometimes weakened by iron may stem from iron being a symbol of humanity's way of living and thriving, all without the use of magic. This is not the only explanation though.

It can also be due to how iron may represent an end to the natural world and is associated with weaponry. One can find many interesting explanations.
