Intractable is a UK registered charity, set up to help families with medical cannabis prescription costs for loved ones suffering from Intractable Epilepsy.
2/2: Please help us to spread awareness as we are the only registered children’s charity in the U.K. set up to help pay for epileptic children’s cannabis oil prescriptions.
(We all volunteer and do not get paid by the charity!).
Behind every seizure is a child, a parent, and a fight that never stops 💜
For many families, that fight includes access to treatment 🌿
This #PurpleDay we raise awareness for epilepsy and the reality families face daily.
Why is access still a battle? ⬇️
Researchers at Glasgow Caledonian University are developing a wearable headset to help predict epileptic seizures. The AI-powered device analyses brain and heart activity and has shown encouraging results in early tests. Click here to read more: https://t.co/n5LrAuT3Nl
Today, we’re proud to spotlight @IntractableUK , our GreenShield Award recipient, and to honour the parents whose courage changed the course of UK medical cannabis history.
Nearly seven years after the law changed, too many families are still forced to privately fund life-saving cannabis medicines — often at enormous personal cost. #Intractable exists because those families refused to accept that injustice in silence.
Led by parents, powered by compassion, and sustained by tireless advocacy, Intractable continues to stand beside families navigating a system that still doesn’t meet their children’s needs.
This work saves lives.
And it’s far from finished.
We’re honoured to recognise Intractable — and to stand with every family they support.

This National Epilepsy Week, we must highlight the ongoing struggle for children's access to medicinal cannabis in the U.K. Despite 2018's legal changes, many remain denied NHS access. We need clearer guidelines, better education for doctors, and a commitment to patient care!
We are saddened by the passing of Hannah Deacon, a pioneer for medicinal cannabis access in the UK. Her legacy will inspire many parents and benefit countless children in the years to come.

Sadly, many children and families are unable to access private prescriptions, as the overwhelming demand has forced private clinics to stop accepting new patients. This situation highlights the urgent needs of children with severe, intractable forms of epilepsy in the U.K.
End our pain specifically raised Minnie’s case before Christmas! Minnie’s case highlights the urgent need for access to observational trials as was the case in 2013 for a child in a similar position. @wesstreeting, children need your immediate help!

Today in Westminster Hall at 1:30pm, politician’s debate the lack of NHS access to medicinal cannabis.

Karen’s daughter faced a heartbreaking situation when she was denied access to any cannabis-based medication. In a desperate bid for relief, she had no choice but to undergo brain surgery yesterday before even having the opportunity to try a potentially life-changing treatment.
@wesstreeting This tragic outcome highlights the urgent need for reform in accessing medicinal cannabis. Patients should not have to endure such extreme measures when alternative treatments are available. We must advocate for better access to cannabis-based therapies to prevent more families from facing similar crises.
