@americangene Disappointing that viral rebound was detected in all HIV cure trail participants. Good disclosure means communicating disappointing news as well as good news.
Curing only a subgroup of 3% of the population or better is a huge readjustment of expectations.
Update your followers!
@americangene Throughout early 2022 your webpage (below) projected potential data of first human efficacy during summer 2022.
This projection was removed from your countdown to cure webpage with no new release date.
Could you please clarify current status of ATIs?
@americangene This is good news, though consistent with what we’ve previously seen for over a decade.
Given that ATIs in AGT’s program commenced many months back, why no update about status of those trial participants? Viral rebound often occurs in weeks so when will we see data re the ATIs??
@Geraint20002447 @RyanCar99046999 @acgrayling We are never as different from Switzerland in any regard as we are from China in every regard.
Representative democracy and referenda are not mutually exclusive.
We do have a constitution: it just isn’t written. And sadly, as we learned with Johnson, that’s been a problem too.
The time has finally come. Always knew it would. Was just a question of when. Jacob Rees-Mogg now, with no where else to turn, has finally played his last Brexiteer card: “Warning Remainers are deliberately undermining Brexit as they look to make UK a failure”
Give me strength.
@MikeCarpenter17@acgrayling Or maybe we just don’t have enough of them like the Swiss or Irish. I’m not disagreeing with you but just that British democracy has less experience and practice with referenda than other European democracies.
@mydear319@jeffreygalvin As is clear from your response, efforts to censor others or impose preferences on what others should or should not say is rarely welcome.
Thanks for letting us all know that you’ll share your opinion… though I doubt any reader of this exchange was confused about that.
@mydear319@jeffreygalvin Thanks, but my last tweet didn’t require your response.
Of course, what you choose to incorrectly describe as misinformation others will consider welcome clarification.
In any case, I think you’ve provided enough “advice” for one day.
Ciao.
@mydear319@jeffreygalvin I didn’t post under “a lot” of comments, I posted under two.
Unfortunately, not everyone reads the published research either.
To be clear, I will not delete any Tweets. In my view the exchange and clarification is helpful and educative.
Thanks for sharing your advice.
@mydear319@jeffreygalvin I am pleased to learn that my reading of this research (in the Frontiers article) has been clarified and good faith discussions around the presentation of scientific data should not be deleted.
Malicious spreading of misinformation, of course, is a different matter.
Thanks.
@jeffreygalvin Thanks for clarifying Jeff, much appreciated. I see from re-reading your Frontiers paper, this was situating your current work in context of past efforts.
Continued best wishes with the trial. Like so many others, hopeful some good news on the horizon as the ATIs data emerges!🙏
@PosAware@defeatHIV@iasociety Controversial … but in the middle of the COVID pandemic, did we invest in merging art & science or just prioritize science?
There is STILL a HIV pandemic because ART is a suboptimal response. A cure is needed.
An estimated 680,000 died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2020 alone
@Winnie_Byanyima Small thought: let’s cure HIV now.
Let’s focus every day on the need for a cure and let’s acknowledge that if HIV afflicted the powerful, mainly white, or influential socio-economic groups, then daily ART for the rest of their lives would simply NOT be tolerated as acceptable.
@SexyJutsu92@americangene I’m sure @americangene and @jeffreygalvin will update the community on what comes next now that all treated individuals experienced viral rebound - their work engaging with the community to date has been so impressive but yes, this is very disappointing news.
