The trailer of the SSPX video came out today and has caused quite a stir. The videos themselves may change public perceptions radically ; if the Holy See is sensitive to public perceptions this could make quite a difference.
@IsFullOfGrace@poperespecter1 Only? Do you think this is a small thing?
If you think that carrying God fully inside her Spiritually and physically is a small thing, what wouldn't be? "I have God in my heart"?
I don't think you realise what it means to say 'GOD'!"
Five Reflections on the Samaritan Woman at Jacob's Well** *(John IV, 5–42)
Commentary of Dom Duarte Leopoldo (year 1903)
(1) The sixth hour — that is, noon. Let us admire the goodness of the Saviour who, despite his great weariness, waited at this well for a poor sinner, in order to convert her and make of her an apostle to the city. Let us learn from him to seize, as he did, every occasion to do good.
(2) A woman of Samaria. This woman is called Photina, and is perhaps the same whose feast is kept on the twentieth of March, and who was afterwards martyrised. Having come to the well to draw water, she did not at first notice the Saviour seated there. But Jesus spoke to her and asked her to drink — he who thirsted for that very soul. So it is with sinners: they pass by Jesus, they enter churches, yet indifferent and heedless of their own souls. Jesus, however, speaks to them: Give me to drink — give me thy heart. Woe to those who close their ears to the gentleness of the voice of so devoted a friend.
(3) Since the separation of the ten tribes and the erection of the golden calf at Samaria, capital of the kingdom of Israel, the Samaritans were despised by the Jews, and even their sacrifices were refused at the Temple. A Jew would never speak with a Samaritan, nor could he ask him so much as a piece of bread or a cup of water. This hatred persisted after the captivity of the ten tribes, when Samaria was repopulated by pagans. The Samaritan woman's reply to the Divine Master is found likewise upon the lips of many sinners. They want nothing to do with Jesus and his ministers.
(4) One may perceive the Saviour's intention. Under the image of living water, he wishes to speak of spiritual goods, of his Gospel, of the Sacraments. There is a great difference between the water of a well and living water. The water of a well must be drawn with difficulty from the depths where it lies still. Living water springs up of itself at the surface of the earth; it has movement, it has life. The gift of God is the grace given to this woman — and, in her person, to all men — of being able to converse with the Saviour.
(5) The conscience of sinners is a deep well: only Jesus can cause to spring from the bottom of that abyss a fountain of living water, that is, of sanctifying graces.

As we prepare for the Third Sunday of Lent, let us thank the Angelic Doctor for these meditations. Let us guard our liberation. We have been freed from the world; let us not return to its chains.
St. Thomas warns that this liberation must be "accepted." God does not force us into Heaven. We must walk through the gate He opened, following the path of the Cross and the precepts of the Church.
"We may well say of Thomas what has been said of another: that he prayed even more than he studied; and that he never set himself to write without first having recourse to prayer." Pope Pius XI
Saint Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!
It is First Saturday: A day to seek reparation for offenses against the Immaculate heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Repair today for those who will not.
@riecker We will pray for your son and for your family. May Our Lady intercede for him, and may God give you the strength that only He can give.
