As much as I love InuYasha, as a Shonin Battlemanga it’s power system is very poorly defined.

We have

• Yōki: Demonic Energy, the energy type most Demons/Yōkai weaponize.

• Jaki: Demonic 𝘈𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘴 that Demons naturally radiate. The stronger the Demon the stronger the aura.

• Kentasu: Demons can channel their Yōki into weapons to create “Sword Pressure” that can manifest as beams of light and energy blasts.

• Reiryoku: Spiritual Power, the energy type that Priestesses weaponize to purify Demons.

• Hōriki: Holy Power, weaponized by Monks and Gods/Goddesses. Also purifies Demons.

• Magic: A rarely shown neutral power that humans, deities, and demons alike can all access. Not linked to spiritual abilities whatsoever, apparently.

• Haku: Half of a Soul, it’s the energy to move your body. Combined with Kon creates a completed soul, called a state of Kokoro.

• Kon: Half of a Soul, it’s the energy to move your mind. Combined with Haku creates a completed soul, called a state of Kokoro.

• Chi: Namedropped by the mangaka as existing in the setting, even though we never really see it.

• Onmyōdō: A mixed Spiritual-Magical power of Japanese myth said to be practiced by Onmyōji. Usually used to summon Shikigami Spirits or invoke elemental blasts. Only appeared in some video games, but it gets a mention.

So yeah, the power system in this universe is a MESS and not very well defined at all. It’s like there are like, five different power systems all slammed together.
