Josh Powell is a friend & pastors 20 minutes across town. I’d love to vote for him for SBC president one day.
And that’s why I’m voting for @WillyRice next Tuesday.
I explain here…

Cheap China trailer tires that came on my equipment trailer exploded last year, replaced all of them and the spare…
Got nails in both back tires Friday.
Sidekick and Honda both have slow leaks currently too. Not having good tire luck,
@Pondbear522@greatgenesjeane Did KC to Albuquerque with my oldest, 2ish I think too. Hopped in the car at 7pm and she slept till morning, longest drive with kids we’ve done and it was super easy 🤣
Done 5-6 hours and it’s usually only bad for an hour or so.
@Pondbear522@greatgenesjeane Overnight drives are best with kids. Every single long drive we've done has been through the night and it works perfectly. Seven hours is tricky length, but I'd probably just keep 'em up as late as possible, and then get in the car and roll.
@GoldenAspen1492@Love_Thy_Hood I can kinda cook, but not bake.
I succeed on repairs and building some times. More often than not, but that bar is just 51% 🤣
I’ve struggle bussed with all kinds of support from companies in this last year. Incompetent support, slow support, non-existent support…
Had an issue with my Steam Deck and @Steam solved it in about two hours.
If the world gotta get run by big corps, I’d choose Steam.
@BigBBaptist Complete East Coast has me beat. I'm missing NY and up, prob never will rectify that.
Got more of the West on you though I'm still missing a few unfortunately.
A lot of men struggle with hearing criticism. Instead of hearing "you made a mistake," they hear "you are a mistake." This is usually because of an imbalance from critical leadership in their own lives.
Fathers have got to be intentional about expressing the things they admire and are pleased with in their sons. Criticism will come naturally to us as leaders, encouragement takes practice and intentionality.
If all they field from you is criticism though, they will carry insecurities with them their entire life, no matter how much they succeed, and it will have all sorts of negative implications for how they relate to others.
The balance of encouragement and correction is what will produce an emotionally healthy man.
Just start today. Find something to praise your kids about. Be specific. You have no idea how motivating that is for a child when something praiseworthy is pointed out about them. It's not hard, just start with one of these...
"I am pleased with..."
"You are a blessing because..."
"I am thankful that you..."
"I admire that you..."
This is a great motivator for anybody, not just kids. It's a learned practice for any leader, not just fathers. It's just especially important for fathers and sons.
The secret to motivation is that encouragement goes so much further than correction, and it unlocks the full value of correction when used, because it comes packaged with security and trust.
@bowtiedfarmer Did you just call all my neighbors poor!? 🤣
I kid, I kid. I’ve seen people briefly wave before, but it’s definitely not the kind of chill mowing experience that a riding lawnmower offers.
