Microsoft has been part of Hyderabad’s technology journey for more than two decades. With this new cloud region, it is also helping shape what comes next, with Hyderabad emerging as a strategic hub for cloud and AI.

With 300MW of data centre capacity already operational and 2GW under development, Telangana is now targeting 5 GW by 2029, alongside around $30B in potential investment across the wider AI and digital infrastructure ecosystem.

Oil Palm Offers Farmers a Stable Source of Income

India Has Vast Potential for Oil Palm Cultivation

A Reliable Income for Farmers Even During Drought Conditions

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that oil palm cultivation is a transformative opportunity for the farming community of Khammam district, enabling farmers to achieve higher productivity and better returns in a region that is predominantly dependent on agriculture. He inaugurated the prestigious Godrej Integrated Palm Oil Industry, established at an investment of nearly ₹300 crore in Anjanapuram village of Konijerla mandal in Khammam district, along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and representatives of the Godrej management.

Addressing the public meeting on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Khammam is synonymous with agriculture and that farming is the primary livelihood for its people. He recalled that the undivided Khammam district once had several industries, but after the reorganization of districts, it has largely remained dependent on agriculture.

He noted that agriculture in the district depends on irrigation from the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal, Palair Reservoir, and Wyra Reservoir. Since farming is the backbone of the local economy, he stressed the need to encourage crops that provide higher yields and greater income. As part of this vision, he urged farmers to take up oil palm cultivation.

Bhatti Vikramarka said that oil palm provides farmers with assured income even under adverse climatic conditions such as El Niño and drought. To encourage cultivation, the government is providing subsidies ranging from ₹4,000 to ₹45,000 per acre.

He observed that India requires nearly 25 lakh metric tonnes of palm oil annually but currently produces only about 12 lakh metric tonnes. As a result, the country depends heavily on imports, leading to a massive outflow of foreign exchange. He said that if India could produce more palm oil domestically, it would strengthen the national economy while significantly benefiting farmers.

The Deputy Chief Minister recalled that during 1991–92, the then Chief Minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy, first promoted oil palm cultivation in the state. He also remembered that surveys conducted at the time had identified areas such as Aswaraopeta and Sathupalli in the then Khammam district as highly suitable for oil palm cultivation. The seeds of that vision, he said, have now grown into a full-fledged integrated industry.

He pointed out that while India has the potential to cultivate oil palm on nearly 70 lakh acres, only about 15 lakh acres are currently under cultivation. Expanding cultivation to its full potential would provide a significant boost to the country's economy.

He said that oil palm cultivation, which began in 1991–92, has now expanded to nearly 3 lakh acres, demonstrating the enormous potential for further growth both in Telangana and across the country.

Highlighting the increasing profitability of oil palm, he said that the price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) has risen from around ₹12,500 per tonne in 2023 to nearly ₹23,000 per tonne today, clearly reflecting the growing economic value of the crop. He encouraged farmers to seize this opportunity to achieve long-term prosperity.

The Deputy Chief Minister described the newly inaugurated ₹300-crore integrated palm oil industry at Anjanapuram in Konijerla mandal as a major boon for the farmers of Khammam district, whose livelihoods are almost entirely dependent on agriculture.

Responding to requests for improved infrastructure, he assured that the government would sanction road connectivity through the Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to support the industry's growth.

He expressed hope that this unit would emerge as an anchor industry, attracting several ancillary industries to the region and transforming it into a major hub for agro-based industries.

Bhatti Vikramarka also envisioned Konijerla evolving from a region dependent on importing oil palm seeds from Malaysia and Indonesia to becoming a centre that supplies high-quality oil palm seeds to the entire country.

He noted that the project goes beyond nursery development and includes Research & Development (R&D), seed genetics, seed gardens, nurseries, milling, and refining facilities, all being established over nearly 113 acres.

Congratulating the farming community, he urged them to adopt oil palm cultivation on a larger scale and take full advantage of the opportunities it offers.

He emphasized that farmers should not remain confined to traditional crop cultivation but should diversify into commercial crops and value-added agricultural products through industrial processing. Only then, he said, would the slogan "Farmer is King" become a reality.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Indiramma Praja Government to farmers' welfare, he recalled that the government had deposited ₹9,000 crore into farmers' bank accounts under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within just nine days, reflecting its determination to make farmers prosperous.

Emirates has expressed its willingness to explore the launch of Airbus A380 services from Hyderabad, following a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister Sri @revanth_anumula and @emirates Vice President (India & Nepal) Mr. Mohammad Sarhan, as the airline celebrates 25 years of operations.

The Chief Minister urged Emirates to expand its footprint in #Hyderabad by introducing #A380 services and increasing flight operations. He also showcased Telangana's rapidly growing aviation ecosystem, highlighting the upcoming airports at Warangal and Adilabad, and invited the airline to establish and expand its Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (#MRO)operations in the state, assuring full government support.

Beyond aviation, the Chief Minister invited Emirates to partner in Telangana's sporting journey by sponsoring athlete training programs at the Gachibowli Sports University.
