@watersheep6977 @AmosMurphy_ It is checked on every occasion for offside, we've got semi auto - the problem is we're then taking 5-10 minutes to decide if someone's toenail or hair is offside, and that kills the game.

@SaorAlbannach Need to give them clear pathways to the first team and accept that eventually selling is the end goal - you look at how places like Norway and Portugal have developed; they sell their products and reinvest in the infrastructure

We should be trying to hold onto these kids and give them a clear pathway into the first teams, keep them till 20/21 and push them to genuine first team moves abroad for good money and reinvest that into grassroots and youth football

I think this is part of the problem we have - like this is a sensational move for the kid but if he (and as good as he is, Chelsea is a basket case) gets eaten up by their youth system, we've lost a promising CB prospect who'll have to scrap his way back to international level

This is true, but we could still do a lot better - we get similar TV money to places like Denmark, Croatia, etc - but how we spend it, and what we prioritise through developmental stages, and what our clubs prioritise, is where we fall apart as a national setup

Up until 1998 I’m pretty sure Scotland and England had very similar qualifying records for major tournaments.

Since the inception of the English Premiership and the Sky TV money in the early to mid 90’s the gap has grown and grown in regards to funding levels in the game.
