Moritz Beller

Used to be amateur cyclist, now pro software engineering researcher.

In the past 3 months, did you use Google's "I'm feeling lucky"? #feelinglucky

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@HyattConcierge Just followed. Thx

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

I have recently noticed that deadlines in SE venues (even prestigious ones!) get extended on short notice. When I was doing my PhD, this used to not be a thing. Has anything recently changed? On all PCs I was on lately, there were lots of submissions, so why extend?

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

I wrote a little piece on "What AI means for junior developers".

> AI is fundamentally different than previous abstractions such as compilers
> I'm afraid the field of computing might be getting tougher for juniors in particular

Following my previous podcasts, I'm proud to share our pre-print: "What's DAT? Three Case Studies of Measuring Software Development Productivity at Meta With Diff Authoring Time" https://t.co/g1TbWeExJo

@GOP

@svpino Except both profiles are significantly less valued than SWEs.

Unverständlich, ARD & ZDF!
Die aktuelle Kanzlerpräferenz:
Merz 26%
Habeck 25%
Scholz 18%
Und ihr wollt im Ernst ein Duell Merz-Scholz senden?
Merz-Habeck wäre mit Sicherheit die interessantere Debatte, wenn es denn ein Duell sein soll.

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@headinthebox Let me circle back to you with our learnings as a fast follow, once I have bandwidth to bend the curve.

[Engineering at Meta @Meta_Engineers]

How do you measure developer productivity?

@Inventitech and Sarita join the @MetaTechPod to discuss Diff Authoring Time (DAT) – a way of measuring how long it takes to submit changes to a codebase.

Hear how DAT unlocks new abilities for developers.

The Netherlands is one of the most sci-fi places on earth

The Dutch deserve a new word: hydropunk

Over centuries, they have created & maintained one of the most advanced water management systems on the planet

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

I just formatted a scientific paper abstract with @Inventitech's Abstract Formatter. https://t.co/vewmmIr69G

At this point it's obvious that the Nobel for Literature is going to ChatGPT.

[Gergely Orosz @GergelyOrosz]

So odd when the clear market leader in the hottest tech field today (AI) is seeing a steady stream of departures: cofounders, executives. The people who have the most internal details on current status and future plans.

They have far more information than us on the outside.

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@triviumcolombia Yup, looks very muscular for a woman whose primary aim is not being a pro body builder (& who isn't supposed to 'help' nature).

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@AIDRIVR Amazing, and still not that great compared to an attentive human. I measured time to break at around 2s at least. You can actually see the human back off again, possibly because he got scared. Avg. human achieve << 1s. https://t.co/suNwgH7Eoe Way to go though, Tesla!

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@wholemars Have you normalized these numbers for range?

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@laflammerouge16 That document in general is terrible, formulation-wise.

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@lucasaganronald Honestly, I think he should just go tf for it! When you're having the season of the century, why not? Obvsl. the team also has to be strong enough.

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@BenjiNaesen @SadhbhOS I guess train has lower probability of your bike getting damaged? But a 69 pound flight *including* your bike: how???

[Moritz Beller @Inventitech]

@LeTour @vismaleaseabike @seanquinn321 Clearly, the Visma glue on the bottle does not react with Sean Quinn's EF sweat.
