Congratulations to Harlow on winning 1st place in the Habitat for Humanity essay contest! Today, she received an iPad, & celebrated with a pizza party alongside her classmates. Her achievement also helped secure a $30,000 donation for Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.
Our Grade 1 students were busy making music today! 🎶 Using xylophones and the piano, students explored rhythm, beat, and melody while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork through music.
Our Learning Center was a busy place this morning as students rolled up their sleeves and made fresh bread! 🍞
It was the perfect activity for this gloomy, cold May day — filling the room with warmth, delicious smells, and lots of smiles.
Our Grade 7 students are designing balloon-powered cars! 🚗🎈 They’re experimenting with different materials and wheel rotations to test speed, distance, and performance while applying science and engineering skills. Great work, Grade 7s!
Under the supportive guidance of Steph McNamara, students participated in a Yoga Flow/Nidra class, focussing on movement, mindfulness, & relaxation. It was a wonderful, calming way to reduce stress and promote overall well-being.
A great day at Special Olympics. So many smiles, so much encouragement, lots of physical activity, & even a few ribbons along the way!

It’s Education Week, and we’re recognizing this year’s theme: Fostering Empathy: Learning &Leading with Kindness.
Our Grade 4s visited the manor residents for an afternoon of games and conversation. Students enjoyed spending time with the residents, talking and playing games.
Today, our Grade 5 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a virtual presentation led by Health Canada, where they learned about substance use, age-appropriate choices, and the importance of making healthy decisions.
IECA was proud to host a Career Fair today.
Students had a great opportunity to explore different career pathways, and we were happy to welcome students from Dalbrae as well. Everyone participated with a “career passport,” visiting booths & asking questions.

Great teamwork! Grade 10 Community-Based Learning students helped Mr. Fraser guide Grade 9s in a hands-on Trade Exhibition project—building model sheds. 🔨Can’t wait to see the results!
Our Drama 12 students have been hard at work creating their own small productions, and today one group shared their puppet show with our Grade 2/3 class!
There were lots of laughs along the way, along with a meaningful lesson about being kind to your friends.
A special day in our Pre-Primary class! 🇸🇪 Erland’s parents taught us Swedish words, shared stories, and showed us traditional dances. Such a fun way to learn about Sweden—thank you! 💙💛
Today we say goodbye to our pre-service teachers Rachel, Jayden & Kaylan. We’re sad to see them go but so proud of all they’ve done. Wishing them the best ahead—we hope to see them back at IECA someday!
