🌅 Good Morning, Glasgow.
As the city wakes up, buses start their routes, trains begin to move, coffee shops open their doors, and the sun rises over our streets.
But this is also the reality of Glasgow.
This photograph was taken on Glassford Street. These emergency tents represent the growing number of people who have nowhere safe to go when accommodation cannot be found.
Every night, our volunteers work tirelessly to support people in crisis. Yet too often we are faced with the heartbreaking reality that there simply isn’t enough emergency accommodation available for everyone who needs it.
Glasgow City Council must do more to work alongside Homeless project scotland and other frontline organisations to source emergency accommodation at night. People should not be left on a pavement wondering where they will sleep, especially in a city and country that has the resources to do better.
Behind every tent is a person.
A life.
A story.
Someone’s son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father.
We will continue to do everything we can, but volunteers and charities cannot carry this burden alone.
The question is simple:
How many more people must be left with nowhere to go before meaningful action is taken? How big will tent city grow ?

A cyclist who stopped on a pedestrian bridge to enjoy a pretty sunset in British Columbia was not expecting this close encounter with a bear. https://t.co/lvNMvCEhrR
Everest camp number IV, at 7,900 metres. This type of ego-tourism has to be one of the most self-indulgent, wasteful, and environmentally harmful forms of ‘adventure’ mankind has dreamed up.

There are so many takeaways from Nicola Sturgeon’s interview, but one of them is that having denied for years that her resignation in February 2023 had anything to do with the financial scandal she now says that she first became aware of wrongdoing by her husband in early 2023
@bbclaurak@BBCPolitics I believe her, she wouldn’t have worn that pendant if she’d known where her husband got the money. But lack of curiosity on larger, expensive items is incredible. Among thousands of comments on this sorry saga was from a man who said his wife would sniff out an extra £20! True
@LeahRain77@highlandsigar Complain to the school - take the driver’s registration to show them and record all the days she’s parked outside your drive. They may say ‘not our problem’ but schools tend to dislike upsetting their neighbours.
Genuinely chuffed to be described as a "pest" by the godfather of Scottish politics journalism. I'm quite sure it was meant as a compliment and I'm certainly taking it as one.
HEARTBREAKING. THIS IS SCOTLAND IN 2026. 💔
Last night, Homeless Project Scotland was left absolutely horrified after being forced to convert our female shelter room into an emergency family room for a mum, dad and five children.
This was not a decision we wanted to make. It was a decision we felt we had no choice but to make.
When families with children are facing homelessness and nowhere safe to go, what are we supposed to do? Turn them away?
The fact that a voluntary, grassroots charity is having to use emergency shelter space intended for vulnerable adults to accommodate an entire family is a damning reflection of the housing and homelessness crisis unfolding across Scotland.
No child should be spending the night in emergency homeless accommodation. No parent should be facing the fear and uncertainty of having nowhere safe for their children to sleep.
Our volunteers did everything they could to ensure this family had warmth, safety and dignity, but we cannot ignore the bigger question:
How has it come to this?
While politicians debate and reports are written, families are still finding themselves with nowhere else to turn.
This is not just a statistic. This is a mum, a dad and five children who needed somewhere safe to sleep last night.
Scotland 🏴 deserves better.
Every child deserves better.

Eight students were stuck for hours on a rollercoaster in Texas after it stopped partway through a 100 foot vertical lift.
The Iron Shark ride in Galveston suffered a malfunction, leaving the passengers stranded until firefighters could rescue them.
The high school students were on a field trip and have all been rescued and confirmed safe.
The ride owners said a thorough inspection will take place before it is placed back in service.
A reminder that there are now twice as many trans identified MSPs as those who came from what is classed as ‘working class’ employment. We can get our knickers in a twist over the definitions of class but the fact remains, in recent years, Holyrood is far more focused on individual identity than community and social class. Ergo Dr Q and Iris from Bradford are hailed as progressive heroes, meanwhile there are far too many women living in poverty, but hey, trans rights.
