Him dropping deep requires much more athleticism because it involves a lot more running and covering ground. It involves him needing to dart forward to attack vacated space, track back and defend more.

And then people are spreading this myth he is weak. Which again, is bullshit. He is slow, that’s it. He is very strong, he uses his upper body very well to hold up the ball, and we frequently see him dominate centre backs in the box? So again, a myth.

The reason he doesn’t play in the box is simply because it may make his goals and output go up, but it doesn’t make the team better. Simple. Maybe against low blocks, yes, he can play further forward.

But when you have a 9 as gifted as him, dropping deep benefits everyone more, not just Kane. The midfield get an extra man, more passing lanes to ease pressure, the wingers get more space to make inside runs to attack, as do central players.

When he plays as a box 9, that makes play more rigid, predictable, and stale.
