“I strongly support the initiatives that Invisible Disabilities Australia
has undertaken…..I hope you will do likewise.”
"We see this as WORLDS BEST PRACTICE - Office of then Minister, The Hon Bill Shorten.
We have escalating mental health and over 9 suicides a day. In 30 seconds you will understand how just one of IDA's initiatives is changing and saving lives. Please share! @CatherineKingMP@AlboMP@Mark_Butler_MP https://t.co/RZ6tJpUtF8

Inclusion matters.
When people are repeatedly exposed to psychologically or physically unsafe interactions to participate in society, the harm becomes cumulative.
As long as we continue to focus on marginalised groups and particular disabilities millions of us are excluded.
Parcel Locker @auspost have urgent medical supplies stuck in a parcel locker. No QR or password sent I’ve tried everything can’t wait 48 hours
Australia Post Australia Post say manager has Emergency Over ride but my PO manager says he does not.
Without these supplies I could end up in emergency
Feeling stressed. Small things like this cause escalation of mental health. Including having to repeat a 20 number tracking code all day #auspol
The lack of understanding of the needs of people who are not seen as or defined as disabled contributes to escalating mental health and over 8 suicides a day that we know of. This is our life!

Professor @PatMcGorry is right, NDIS is the bottom of the cliff, we need more support at the top of the cliff.
How can we change Community Attitudes, remove barriers. The Disability Royal Commission supported IDA's top of the cliff innovations, practices and innovations.
Airport security still a huge issue for people with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Causing exacerbation of mental health of Australians. @CatherineKingMP@AlboMP@Mark_Butler_MP
Dear Professor. !2.6 million people in Australia have a chronic health conditions including cancer. We are ot defined as 'Disabled" There is no obvious sign that we are suffering, need chairs, lower counters, can not be manhandled and abused at airports. Get abused for using disabled toilets because we don't look, and are not defined, as disabled. Please help us to make the Invisible visible. Im in my 4th battle with cancer and like you I put on a brave face.
@Mon4Kooyong We need to support people traumatised by domestic violence
Many of them suffer PTSD and suffer disproportionately when approached by eg airport security for pat down.
What seems a simple procedure for many of us, is terrifying for people with chronic health conditions.
Looks like a medical condition, people often make assumptions about people with tremor's, Parkinson's, acquired brain injuries, walk past people with drop epilepsy - don't support them, stop them entering premises, because they assume they are drunk. A young woman with early onset Parkinson's went shopping alone and security called police who accused her of being drunk and disorderly. We are regularly humiliated and assaulted at airports @AlboMP@AmandaRishworth@SenKatyG@SenatorJordon
For those times you need to communicate needs and rights without words
Recommended by the Disability Royal Commission, supported by 400 Stoma nurses

No idea the mental health and suicides caused by lack of service provision equally across society, what it means to be poor. Means testing MY Aged Care applicants but not NDIS. Older people forced into downsizing by high rates, then penalised with high strata levies can't then afford daily rates. @AlboMP@billshortenvcuc@AmandaRishworth
Still targeted and abused at airports, still no queue priority, chairs, disabled parking, and if only Stela Young was still here. https://t.co/1qfOFxr1fS
@Mon4Kooyong We are also seeing poor policies for people with disabilities. Focusing on marginalised groups and selected disabilities. This excludes thd needs of 12.6 million of us with chronic health conditions. (NHS 2022)
Meanwhile Prime Minister
@AlboMP you completely ignore daily abuse and serious discrimination of people at airports. 12.6 million Australians have chronic health conditions.
They cant stand in queues, are abused for not looking disabled at parking and toilets.
Millions of us are invisible
https://t.co/bM7trTIPze
@AlboMP Invisible Disabilities Australia the only disability org to make submissions for people with disabilities. Support aisles, chairs for all including checkout operators who stand in one spot for hours. Insufferable pain and exclusion.
@AlboMP Where do 12.6 people with chronic health needs go when there is a national disaster? How are they recognised and supported by first responders. We can’t queue, we need diabetic medications, we need colostomy supplies.
We can die because your government have failed us.
